do frst's suffer alot of turbo lag? that could be a factor on coming out of corners if your revs drop. a good driver behind a frst would still give the c2 a run for its money in the bends i think, more hard work im sure but it wouldnt get mullerd as you say. would be a good race imo.

Overall I don't think a mk3 fiesta chassis is on par with the C2's, I really don't mean that as a bad thing to the RS its purely down to age and I am not being anti-ford. With the mods Darren mentions it would probably close the gap. You have to consider a strut brace on a C2 is a waste of time due to how solid the front is, plus the shorter wheel base can really help.

As it is the T2 turbo shouldn't suffer too much from lag but in corners with more gear changes it could become more of an issue. There is actually a skill to driving both cars, the RS needs you to keep the boost coming where the C2 need to be kept it on the high revs.

It would be much harder to test handling as driver skill could would probably hold both cars back from there absolute max, but I dare I say I would have less to lose and a stability control system ready to catch my arse. On the flip side I am sure we can do a straight line check safely enough.

As I say this isn't about bashing ford its about comparing a 20 year old chassis to a 5 year old chassis and comparing a high revving NA engine against a turbo beast, in theory we both have around 130bhp.

As you said percy, it depends on driver skill as well as many other factors, mainly the consideration of the age difference between the two cars. Mine being fully polybushed with lower and stiffer koni adjustable suspension should help with the age difference in terms of handling and then there is also the wheelbase to take into account as you were pointing out on sunday.

Also, the weight of the car and driver must be taken into consideration, and I would say that I weigh less than you.......... :halo: :lolz:

Maybe a 2.0 si would put a different spin on things having 136bhp and no lag plus a revised chassis? Obviously c2 still has a much better one but i speak in interest of what it would take to get a mk3 chassis to get similar capabillities of a newer car. How far would you have to go.

The chassis on the mk3.5 si is identical to that on the mk3 rst. The only changes made were safety measures such as bars in the doors etc. (so in theory it is actually heavier)

Would add a new slant to it tho
