I know it must be annoying but at least your both OK. Cars/parts can be mended and replaced. Lets just hope your BOTH insured???

if they rite it off u may b able to buy it back off the insurers cheap and fix it yourself as it would only b a cat d but i'm not sure if u would then have get a sva test done on it or not afterwards?? hope u get it sorted mate
