Hi guys thought I should post up my current daily.

I will copy some of it from another forum to save writing it all again, and I go back to december 2012:

So I sold the Volvo today:

After being increasingly fed up with fuel costs I scoured ebay for a suitable alternative, I limited my choices to a mk4 escort dieseasel, citroen ax 1.1 or a mk3 uncle fester.

I chose the fiesta:
Nice clean front valance!

Bit of rust by windscreen,

Bit of rust on tailgate, but tailgates are easily swapped,

Retro and basic as hell interior,

Bullet proof but agricultural,

She comes with a years ticket, and has had 5 new tyres fitted.

Windscreen and back screen rubbers are knackered but brand new ones were supplied, aswell as a genuine Weber rebuild kit (doesnt need it).

Drives spot on, barely touches the fuel, so I am happy!

She should do me a nice turn anyways, aswell as the benefit of classic insurance [:D]

Today I had the fiesta up on a ramp, I was in a good mood after seeing it up there. It has had 1 small patch of welding in its whole lifetime, shown here:

This will come off and I will redo that to be sure it wont rot out.

The bit at the front will get rust treated then undersealed, same with the rest of the car.

Only thing I found wrong was slight wear in rear wishbone bushes [:D]

Bit of progress with uncle festa. My mate said he had a present for me that he took off his old car. It turned out to be some lowering springs and Koni sport adjustable shocks. Result.

Next job was fit them. Job jobbed and I think they are a major improvement. Sensible height, I can still go over speedbumps at normal speed and it handles so much nicer, not like a sailing boat...

Then I turned my attention to the wheel trims. They were in very bad condition, only managed to paint 1 so far, have been spending all my time stripping and prepping them.

And in between I have bought some RS accessory goodies for very very cheap. This includes RS front and rear underbumpers and rear spoilers for that retro vibe.

I have also been given an RS turbo steering wheel, centre console and gearknob, which makes the inside a nicer place to be.

Still not sure on my plans for paint yet. Although I have a tin of Ford Carnival red which looks quite tasty.

Also, today, whilst very bored and unable to do much because of the rain. I decided to prove to my misses how bad the Isle of Sheppey was, so took a drive over. It was as bad as I remembered, a timewarp/boarded up/inbred dive. She believes me now.

So today I bit the bullet and sorted the rust at the bottom corners of the screen, treated the areas heavily, painted with zinc rich primer then top coated with orange temporarily until the car gets fully painted.

All rot ground out and holes filled.

That lot there takes me up to march this year. Since then all i have done really is paint the bonnet black but it was in high temperatures so it came out rubbish!



I have flatted it back since this pic.

After wanting more power, I have been thinking about a zetec conversion. So I bought an Si on ebay as a donor.

Here she is, doesn't look too bad...

1 complete car wiring loom removed for the conversion.



I am also using the rear beam as it has anti roll bar, the fuel tank as it is injection, the front wishbone carriers and anti roll bar, the front brakes and discs as vented.

I will be converting my car to 1.6 while i source all the usual 2.0 parts.

I have also fitted the front and rear Si seats to mine and what an improvement!

Quick question though, does anyone know what this steering wheel is from? It is leather aswell and not plastic.

Looking good. Think I've seen this on retro-rides before. I like the old school ness of it, however maybe the standard seats would suit the style more?? Mine has rust in the same place as yours around the windscreen, was it hard to get the screen back in after sorting it??

Nice project there mate :thumbsup:

The steering wheel was standard on some of the earlier si's, mine included!

They also fitted it to some of the escort cossies, so you might get a good price for it if advertised correctly :thumbsup:
