So where do I start? 11yrs ago I got my first car, was a close call between a nova sr or 1.3lx Fiesta, Fiesta it was. White 3dr L reg, fitted full xr2i kit, 15” white dymags, clear rear lights, wing back interior and chopped the springs. Have a lot of love for that car, we went through a lot. Moved onto a Mrk3 astra 1.6 sport, much faster and nicer than the fiesta. My friend at the time had a rover 220 turbo and I was hooked. The Astra was sold and a moondust XR2i fitted with rs turbo lump was bought. I made it into a complete replica and the car gave me nothing but grief. Fitted; S2 box 165 chip Pace intercooler Moongose exhaust 16” mondeo zetec alloys The day before Fiesta in the park 04 she ripped a rocker out of the head. Then the water pump started to leak and for the life of me I couldn’t remove the crank pully. Replaced pump, timing out and…… dink, dink dink. Four bent exhaust valves. The head was removed, rebuilt and re fitted only for the turbo to blow a month later. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Fast forward to 2010, sold my toys and bought a house. Was bored of not having something to tinker with, introducing the XR2i track car. Lreg 1.8 zetec XR2i in caymen. It was stripped and the shopping list began. I missed the power of my old 200sx S14a (304bhp) so a turbo lump was required. Found one on passion ford, 2.1zvh built by area six, arais pistons, cosworth rods, stage 3 head and cvh 35 cam for the bargain price of £800. Rollcage and collies were bought but something stupid happened. Just finished fitting a new sill, took it out and rolled it about ¼ mile away from my house. Parts sold and car crushed. ![]() ![]() ![]() So currently got a mrk5 fiesta for a daily and a 200sx for my track toy which popped my Nurburg and Donington cherry. Was brousing eBay and spotted the car, put in a low offer and awaited the owner to come back with a counter offer. One hour later and he accepted my offer of £500, down to Nottingham I went to collect the si 1994 Mreg 3dr si 2.0 silvertop zetec 2.0 maff Deep ecu HO inlet Pipercross induction Scorpion exhaust S2 gearbox The owner wasn’t completely honest with listing the problems but overall I’m happy with my £500. looks nice, whats wrong with the paint? the colours name is Tourmallard green pearl hot start will be a buggered starter motor, if you have a 4 branch exhaust that would cause it as it will be too close to the heat (unless you wrapped the exhaust) |

So, i've completed my first week in the Fiesta and she managed 32.34MPG, disappointed as its been a steady run to work and back which the Mrk 5 does 44mpg. First job was to sort the drivers lock and also push the dent out. The car locks fine but doesn't want to unlock from the key and interior door handel. I lubed up the catch and all seems ok. While the door card was off i pushed the dent out on the drivers door, most of it has gone so will do for now ![]() ![]() The biggest problem i've got with the car is the colour, doesn't appear to be a manufactures colour. So far i've checked all the chip at work, up to Kia, the search will resume tomorrow. I've also had the colour brick on it, its a small computer which takes really close up images of the paint and references it against all manufactures paints. It came back with Toyota dark green, checked the chips but its not close enough for me. In two minds to respray the car or sell it on, the respray won't cost alot but is it worth the effort on a £500 car? |

It is a bargain for £500 and the green is a nice shade, will be good if you can keep it that way. I find its regardleas what a car costs if your willing to work on it and get pleasure of of it. Im very jelous of your past cars, i bet that track xr2i would of been a beast if it had the change to be finished. |

Might be worth checking the fuel rail for pressure loss with relations to the starting when hot problem. I would have thought it was tourmallard too, but it does seem a little bit lighter. Is the arch kit darker than the rest of the car by any chance? It looks it, that is more tourmallard than the rest of the car. I don't think you should re-spray it, not really worth it. The MPG figure seems rather poor too, should be getting around 40-45mpg easily on a steady drive. I get between 35-40 blasting mine around |

Yeah its a perfectly achievable figure. All depends what kinda of driving it is though of course. But considering hes getting 32 on a steady drive to work and I get between 35-40 blasting around and about 45 cruising, its quite a poor figure in my opinion |

Welcome to the site! Do you mind putting up a few more pictures of the 200sx in another thread ![]() ![]() ![]() Nearly bought one a few years ago, and I've fallen in back in love with them since being sent around sideways for a few laps with a pro in a 450bhp s14a the other week. I would hold off on spraying the Si just for now, until you're on top of the more mechanical aspects. ![]() |

My Mk4 1.4 Zetec-SE used to get between 30mpg and 40mpg, but then I drove it like I stole it a lot of the time ![]() |

I will check the fuel pressure as its doing my bloody head-in! Its got an erratic idle, when coasting at over 2k it seems to hold it's idle at 2k. Twice today on the drive home from work it stalled on me, took what seemed like ages to fire up with traffic backing up on me. Went to accelerate out of a junction and the revs dropped so i floored it. Soundede as though it was missing on WOT at 500rpm and stank of fuel. The car came with a spare ISCV but where iyt mounts to the inlet is different so swapped the ends over to no avail. I've unplugged it for not and have a happy 800rpm idle. So today i had a look at the oil leak and replaced the ht leads with the new ones that came with the car. What i saw next i couldn't believe. ![]() So pulled another and another...... ![]() ![]() Pooed myself at that point, time to whip the cam cover off ![]() Cam cover gasket was still intact but appears to have been bodged with sealant. Soaked it all up, removed sealant, replaced gasket and refitted it all. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I covered the engine and bay in engine degreased, left for a while before jet washing off. Bloody oil patches all over the drive, the missed aint happy. ![]() I've covered over 100 miles so far and no oil has seeped out of the cam cover, think there's a leak on the bux but that's for another day. |
