Si is gonna have much work done to it hopefully, started it up today and it started first time after a few week. It came with service history with 95k on the clock for £1995. |

Belt and tensioner, oh and water pump. A must. Asap - that's if it hasn't been done. Seeing a lot of rusty mk1's these days, tailgate and rear arches. Seal them up! I would; Sack the stereo off. Fit fiesta st front seats - nicer profile and st badges. Sack the st170 badge off and put a newer style st badge on. Have fun, looks nice. 3 door in black as well! |

While your at it, bin the exhaust cam and fit a decent one, adds 15bhp but loses the variable cam shite |

Post subject: | Re: My ST170 |
varaible cam is on the inlet cam Paul, and just leave it alone as it works a treat on these cars with the ecu regulating it depending on throttle position, load etc............ you can fit a vernier pulley onto the exhaust camshaft and adjust it to give slightly more power, but id say hardly worth the expense of the part and rolling road time when your getting a belt order a GATES belt, best in the buisness, and order a tensioner kit too ( 2 pulleys one idler one tensioner) Ive never heard of a water pump failing on the blacktop engine, but ive seen them leaking from the back of the pump which was the metal pressed gasket that sits behind the pump, but again just check to see iftheres signs of leakage from teh pump Definately underated cars, and im sure youll have some fun in it, and the refinemnt of teh Focus is miles better than some cars |
