Welcome to the forum, car looks lovely. The biggest question is how much are you wanting to spend and what do you want most? speed/handling/looks etc Either way you are in the right place. |

There is many options for handling and many opinions, lowering springs on good condition shocks can do wonders or a full suspension kit. Adding a second rear anti roll bar is a good mod and really helps. Also you can think about bigger brakes. As for speed, the easy options are a good exhaust and induction system, but in all honesty you won't get much power out of the 1.6 as it is quite restricted. A 2.0 conversion does offer the best bang per buck by far but I can understand you wanting to keep you current engine. By all means I am not saying don't try and push the 1.6 but you will need deep pockets to get that engine to keep up with the saxo boys (the VTS at least, can probably get you past the VTRs) |

my engine is standard, i fitted a K/N induction and I noticed a slight increase in performance and sound. You're in similar situation as me, i have big plans for performance but not entirely sure how to start. I want to put a suspension kit on it (as Si shocks will be too old now to cope for long on springs alone and coilovers are overkill imo atm) Full sports exhaust system, i have the ST150 brakes ready to fit this week (see my brakes post if you want to see them ![]() This isnt advice on what you should do its just what i want to do in a similar situation to you ![]() |

Take a look in the modifications section for induction kits as i believe there is a sticky on all the different types, as for exhaust you could go aftermarket or completely custom depending on budget. Nice Si and welcome to the forums |

Personally I would search ebay, forums and locally for a stainless system and see what comes up as there won't be a huge difference between the big names (magnex, scorpion, mongoose etc), not too sure what to do with the mani. |

looks good ![]() the 1.6 has 22mm valves, that's why its tuning capacity is limited. Exhaust and filter etc will give slight gains and even with cams 105bhp is the limit i think unless you turbo it like jono ![]() |

Very tidy si there mate, k&n is a cheap and easy start with a noticeable difference then a get a nice free flow exhaust system so basically your car isbreathing aswel as it can then thats all thats worth doing on the 1.6 imo, worth concentrating on handling as thats what makes the si shine. |

i have a twin ![]() nice looking Si mate, reminds me of what looked like when i got her back in '96 i started mine just like yours. first to go was the airbox in exchange for a KN induction kit. Then i added a Magnex cat back exhaust and the last thing i added before i went completely mad and got it turbo'd was a set of chassis dynamics springs. of course none of these things are on the car now but it did make a slight difference at the time |
