Trust me, i killed the 1.6, so time to build my 2.0 blacktop from a focus! Little bit of modding required on the mounts will explain in pics. Cleaned bare block. Lightly honed and ready too go New ACL bearings Make sure you thoughroly (SP) clean every thing, i almost left this trace of old bearing in the cap. New bearings in caps Rear Mounting bracket, had to be drilled out and can only accept 2 bolts. I am working on a better fix! Clean crank Crank in block Caps on and torqued up. New rings Pistons going in Hard to see in photo but the is a number on it, 2 i think. Number 2 means cylinder 2, (1,3,4 respectively) this number is only on one side on conrod and cap, and goes closest to the front of the block. Pistons in! Oil pump and new crank seal MLS Victor Rienze head gasket. OE fitted to VAG so should be good Water pump inlet, totally different to zetec. Waterpump housing Water Pump seal. IIRC this was quite expensive! bout £8! And shes on! This is a zetec non PAS alternator/engine mounting bracket. Its hard to tell, but alot has had to come of it to make it fit. It majorly fouled the water pump housing. See next pic. Looks tight? It bloody dam is! Lots had to come of the clear the housing here too. Breather and new gasket And shes on. More will come as this is as far as ive got. Had an issue with the silvertop sump in that you can't fit the oil baffle plate. It attaches via the maincap bolts. I thought this wont be a problem as il just use four bolts from the silvertop caps. How ever due to the design in the blacktop sump, the blacktop main caps are very short and the bolts from the silvertop is too long. I PMed DALSY, and he said hes used the silvertop sump with no baffle, however i feel that it should be there. So im using the blacktop sump (which i must admit has a much better baffle and is 2 piece) This has had to be modded. Will post up pics. It fouls the driveshaft and theres no room for starter, so alot has had to be grinded off. (not as bad as what it sounds!) |

i'm looking to fit the 2.0 blacktop in my fiesta si, as the blew the rs1800 engine up, and the escort gti engine i replaced it with just isnt great, even with the 130spec cams and ecu, apparently you can get the port for the water pump opened up at a machinists and have the correct holes drilled and tapped to fit the zetec silvertop waterpump then use the silvertop zetec camblet setup and single tensioner pulley(wit idler pulleies bolted to the water pump) do you know if the silvertop cylinder head will fit the blacktop bottom end? does the silver top pick-up pipe fit in the black top with silvertop fiesta sump? |
