I have aquired a 2000 V reg Ford Escort TD

Same type of engine I had used in the pickup, but the differences being that this engine works properly and has no problems!

The car has no MOT and the wishbones are nackered, and we need to change the clutch.. but I have 2 spare new clutches to use so its not all that bad

Rear bumper is cracked, and the rear arches have started to show signs of rust, but nothing major!


Its 5 door in black, rear windows all in black, Finesse model with Elec windows, Elec locking, Aircon.

I will be putting this on the road at the start of 2009 so I can take the pickup off the road to get the work done on that ready for FITP (hopefully)

Will be fitting some 16's on it which are eventually going onto the pickup, might lower it 30mm and fit a different backbox to get rid of the ugly looking tailpipe. Plans to fit front mount intercooler, turn the boost and fueling up to give it some more power, although the quick drive it does actually pull better than the TD engine I previously had, and this is in standard form.

The engine gives the same Torque as a 2.0ltr zetec, so once its modded abit.. it'll have some nice grunt

Will be fixing it up shortly once I get some wishbones, give the engine a good service.

Replace rear bumper and get another N/S rear door bump strip, which will be painted up also

Was looking about fitting FMIC, but its gonna be a struggle as the engine bay is crammed to the max as its got PAS, and Aircon

Engine had new cambelt around 10k ago which is good, car has done 115,000 which isnt too bad for a diesel.

Going to replace glowplugs, fuel filter, air filter and oil before I put it in for MOT


Should look alot better cleaned up and bits replaced, as its abit tatty, but its acceptable as it is if I felt like I cant be bothered

ye loks good m8 that does like escorts they drive nice for economy and always useful if u need to get to work and doing stuff to your van

Got a dilemma.

To fix the escort I need...

Replace the clutch (Ive got one, but its a pain in the arse job)
2xwishbones
2xtrack rod ends
4xtyres
full service, bulbs etc
rear bumper
mot then tax.

So all in all thats around £350+/- to get it on the road.

Then its got a few lil rust patches which would piss me off.

I cant justify spending that much on it as I wont get it back once I decide to sell it.

As much as it is a nice car to have,m I think the older ford TD engines are crap on fuel, when if the pickup is driven carefully it will do the same or better mpg, with cheaper fuel.

The Escort was gonna be a nice more comfortable car to drive, but at this moment in time I think its gonna get weighed in. The pickup is road worthy and I can live with the harsh ride and exhaust.. ive done it for long enough lol.


Im pretty fed up with cars recently, and to be fair.. Ive had the Pickup this year which is our claim to making something random. So its not as if I havent done anything stressful lol.
Got my eye on a few ideas/projects to keep me busy. And a shed escort is a waste of moneys.
So off to heaven it is

At least put it on some steels and sell those alloys separately, cud probs make a bit off them!

Damn id hate to have a white car with this weather, as i can see your pickup looks like its taking the name a bit serious looking forward to seeing the end result matey.
