Hey! I thought it was about time I posted a thread about my car and the work I have done on it since I bought it! Sorry about the essay ![]() I have owned the car for two years now and as soon as I bought it, I took it off the road to restore it.To begin with, I rebuilt the whole of the back end of the car including removing the back axle and anti-roll bar, cleaning them up and painting them, followed by removing the petrol tank and replacing it with a brand new one from ford. I replaced all of the bushes on the back axle and anti-roll bar with brand new ford ones and also replaced the rear shock absorbers with brand new ford ones. I also removed the rust from and painted (with hammerite) the spare wheel holder. Following this, I sorted out the brakes by replacing the front callipers and discs with new ford items, replacing the rear cylinders and also putting on new break shoes and front pads, as well as adjusting the handbrake. I also put new break pipes all round. Following this, with the help of my dad, I removed the engine and replaced a long list of parts, including new steering rack, new track rod ends, new front suspension arms and legs, new CV boots, new anti-roll bar linkages, new clutch, new water pump, new power steering pump, new plugs and HT leads, repaced all of the seals in the engine (oil seals etc), new alternator, new starter motor, new heater matrix, new cat and downpipe, new hoses, new fuel filter, new air filter, new lambda sensor. I also wet and dried and polished the rocker cover, and removed all rust from the engine bay and battery stand and painted it. Once the engine was back in, I concentrated on the bodywork. My dad welded on two new sills (including inner sills), along with a new front and back panel and also two new rear wheel arches. My dad also welded some patches on the floorpan where it was particularly rusty. The rest of the floorpan was de-rusted using a power file and then painted with black hammerite. Any parts that hadn't been replaced on the car were also painted with black hammertie. To finish off, I smoothed the new sills and arches into the origional bodywork with filler, sauced a new passenger door and tailgate (as the ones on the car were dented/rusty) and fitted them to the car. Finally, the whole car was resprayed gloss black by my dad. We finished the job three weeks before ford fair 2008, got the car MOT'd and taxed and drove it to the ford fair and displayed it on the fiesta-si.com stand. I am now going to enjoy driving it for the next two years untill I am 21 and can afford the insurance to drop a two litre silver top zetec engine into the car. Cheers for the comments so far ppl! It's good to get positive feedback after putting so much hard work into the car! ![]() ![]() It was really helpful having it at that height tho coz it made doing the sills and arches so much easier and also getting the engine in and out! ![]() Keep the comments coming! ![]() |

I thought I would post some pics of my si in its current state before I put it off the road for the winter at the end of October. Over the winter I'm planning to put a stainless exhaust on it and polish up the engine bay. The next big plan is a 2.0 ltr engine next winter with carbs, along with lowering and possibly some uprated stoppers too! Anyway, let me no what you think! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

In the back of FastFord and Performance Ford magazines, there is a section where you can send in info and pictures about your car and they print it in the magazine ![]() |

Update time! ![]() As planned, I bought and fitted a new stainless exhaust over christmas. I got a cat back scorpion exhaust (3.5" inwardly rolled tailpipe) from demon tweeks, which btw is awesome! I've never been before and its just like car heaven! Its got everything you would ever want for your car ![]() Anyway, I fitted the exhaust and it now looks soooooo much better and sounds well nice too! ![]() let me no wot u think ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
