just thought i'd put a few pics up of my car as i am getting ready to re-spray it. the plan for the car is a 200bhp+ n/a zetec running GSX-R throttleboddies, 8 injector set-up, nitrous, uprated ST170 bottom end and a race spec head and cams (9500rpm rev limit  ). im also savng for a 10 point rollcage, kevlar fixed back seats, fuel cell, carbon roof bonnet and bootlid, fibre glass bumpers wings and mirrors (making the moulds myself), coilovers, adjustable bottom arms, cossie brakes, twin rear anti rollbars, strut-braces, lexan windows, stack dials and custom flocked dash and some other bits i cant remember. so far its its pretty standard bar lowering kit, 2ltr throttlebody and MAF, enclosed induction kit with air intake through foglight hole, white late RS2k wheels, and a super chip. im currently sorting the body work so i can re-spray it gloss black, fitting my new exhaust and finding wheel spacers so i can sort the stupid offsets out. any comments welcome, what do you think? just some pics of how the

st170 bottom end for the forged bits and better stroke and a silvertop head so i can keep the si loom, im also playing with the idea of fitting the st170 gearbox. 6 speed would be good, but im current reasearching the gearbox options available to find the ideal one (Focus RS keeps poping up with its weird diff  ).
the ITBs should be pretty good, im going to be fitting these when i get a boggo 2ltr in to get the suspension set-up and brakes tested before i go the whole way and fit the st170 hybrid.
finding the drivers for the 8 injectors is proving to be the big problem atm. mega squirt is showing some weaknesses and i am worried that i will have to go to a better managment, also the launch control function on more expensive managments would be useful.
getting the spray gun out at the weekend to get the bumpers done and mabye the bootlid. i need to get my Si back, my old 1.3 is shocking on fuel, wont go past 4500rpm and is so slow i got beaten by a 1.0 micra with an oap driving (that one hurt  )

which gsx-r bodies are they? my friend runs a high compression 2.1 zetec running gsx-r 100 throttle bodies and megasquirt management. can i just say why 8 injectors, he has used the standard gsx-r injectors and we rolling roaded it @194bhp and the injectors are only at 60% duty, also just for info he is using an cts stage 2+ IB5 with Quaife atb diff, but has also had to have custom driveshafts made up because it kept snapping the shafts clean in 2!

there curently 600 throttlebodies, but i am looking for a set of 1000, but im trying to find the earlier spec tappered bodies (as my 600's are) as apperaently these give a bit better bottom end. im using the ford rails because i wont have to cut the loom around to fit the ITBs, im trying to make the car as simple as possible so it is easier to fix, and the second rail wont come on until the cams come on there power band (plus i get some bragging rights  ). Cts box has been an option i have been looking at but its the price that has been putting me off, im only 19 and an appearentice mechanic (as off next week) so funds are a bit tight, the st170 box is looking like the one i am going to go for atm.
and thanks for the comments guys, really apreciated :)

im a complete induction roar adict so i had to go the na route. i am planning my next project that will have a ZT but a drive train addition to help me get a bit more traction  .
im currently looking at lsd options for the 6-speed. 90% decided on the st170 box now, weight up the pros and cons and im likeing the st170 gearbag most, plus i can say 'yeh, 8 injectors, 6-speed gearbox and 9500rpm' to all 20v turbo people that keep telling me to get a golf :x , i like golfs but how could i own a car that isnt broken nearly all the time  .

looks interesting, should be fun with that rev limit. All Golf's are wank performance wise unless it's an overpriced R32.

thanks for the launch control tip
this is what i was told by some one who fitted the box himself and i believe he was using an st170 turbo.
Hi Tom, yeah you will need the engine out mate - that much is certain lol! There is a lot involved in fitting this 'box mate - firstly the shorter of the ST170 driveshafts goes on the driver's side of the fiesta and is a perfect fit. The passenger side one needs shortening proffessionally -I used RECOPROP in Luton.

All the normal Fiesta gearbox mounts are now completely useless. You have to to take the "leg" from the top of the Focus Gearbox (the alloy threaded piece where it goes up into the mount), chop it, turn it 180 degreees then TIG weld it properly -otherwise you won't clear the Fez inner wing) Then you need the Gearbox mount frame (the part with 4 threaded bolts attached to it on the Focus passenger side inner wing) this is spot-welded to the Focus so is fun to remove

You then need to weld this to the fiesta's inner wing.

The Focus ' box also has a rear mount that stops it swinging to-and-fro. I mounted this to the crossmember (that runs under the car from one side to the other). This also entailed lowering the front-to-rear x-member to clear the 'box as it's bulky!

You also need the Focus cable gearchange mechanism, lever and mounts.

You also need a hydraulic clutch pedal+ master cylinder fitted too (unless you want to convert it back to cable-clutch )

Same goes for the speedo - the Focus one is electronically-driven from the 'box and is calibrated for the ST170's big 17" Wheels too. I used the full st170 loom, ecu and clocks anyway so my speedo was the correct one for the sender in the 'box.

If you still want to run the Fez speedo you will need to retro-fit the mechanical speedo drive in the 'box somehow...

One thing's for sure it's not a straightforward swap!!

Good luck mate, Jim.

i know its not a straight swap and im researching the cost of the conversion now, but i think the benifits will show in the finished article. but i think im going to go down the ERST route for a bit a save for the st170 conversion. still in the planning stage for most of the project, its only the exterior that im sure on, so iv got my work (and finances) cut out for me if i what the car finished for FITP next year.
