They are getting cheaper now. Most people break them though nowadays, as they won't get what they want selling them as a whole.

I should have paid that bit extra for a JDM model. Maybe then I wouldn't of had to spend ££££ on a new engine and rear arches. Sad times.

But although sometimes I hate it for what it has done to my hard earned cash, the longer I keep it the more I'm not sure I could part with it.

I know, it makes me sad seeing them being broken! Some of them are quite battered though sometimes, which is a shame!

You know you love the teg really, it makes you smile and its reliable :D Well, more so in standard form perhaps lol

To be honest the car has only ever broken down on me once. And that was the bottom end going. I still think to this day the guy I bought it off had put something in the oil to stop it smoking as he knew it was giving way.

But I'm happy to state that ever since the new bottom end has been on, I've never once needed to top up any oil.

It does go through coolant a little as the reservoir bottle needs topping up once a month but that's because the water cooling system is under A LOT of strain. I need to get my angle grinder out and find a way to fit a full size rad and not the half size rad I currently run.

Yeah I've heard of Wynns doing a product of that sort. Ah well, bad times are over. Ta Fezzyzetec.

Small update: Had a go at the rear suspension setup.

Image

Starting taking the arms and wishbones off. Look at that lovely rusty chassis rail.

Image

Cue plenty of snapped bolts from removing the rear LCA's.

Image

Long story short, replaced the following arms with uprated Hardrace bushes:

2x LCA's + new Honda bolts
2x UCA's
2x Mugen Gold 5-ways with new Honda damper bolts
2x rear Hardrace ARB D link bushes and new honda bolts for the Hardrace ARB droplinks.
Painted the d link bush holders, tie bar and ARB itself.
Rust treated and painted the chassis rail.
re-painted the rear callipers

The only things I've not changed are the rear compensator arms as they will need cutting off and replacing, and I have some fresh new Honda bolts for these too.

Image

So the rear is nearly there suspension wise.

Then I broke my left index finger and may lose my nail due to jumping out the car too quickly and not moving my hand out the way quick enough from the closing door. Very annoying. Reason being I couldn't get into gear. The amount of air in my clutch system was insane - I must have a leak somewhere, but it must of been brought to light from the car sitting at a high angle (nose down) for a while. All is well for now and I can select gears again.

So with one hand I'm limited, but managed to get my bumper off on Sunday:

Image

Got the hacksaw out and DIY'd it to promote more air flow into the engine bay and onto the rad. Nothing clean but not bad for a one handed job. Less subtle and not as much to my taste but needs must.

Image

So that's it for now. More to come at the weekend maybe. Maybe a trial fit of my oil cooler, and a mock up of a heat shield to protect the radiator from the manifold. Maybe even a massive fat hole in the right-hand side of the bumper next to the numberplate to get more air at the radiator.

Cheers

Good work Ry! Especially one handed!

Looks much more aggressive now with the bumper mod.

Thanks guys. :) Need to invest in a better jack next as the Halfords one is great for getting under my car as it's so low but naff for getting any decent clearance.

That'll be the one, nice one Des.

Yeah Terry, I thought it was just swollen and a broken nail, but they showed me the xray and it was not good

Bumper is a bit choppy up close, but that will suit the rest of the exterior... Choppy and rough

I think there's going to be a oblong style hole in the bumper above the S301 part of my number plate, along with a new number plate as some point as I've had that crack in it for about 2 years.

I'd like a snap-on *anything* item Adam  Never used a snap-on tool that didn't do the job perfectly.

Just ordered some new front upper and lower ball joints, track rod ends and UCA's. Should be fitting it all next weekend along with my front coilovers and full re-bush - then it's off for a geo setup.

This baby is going to handle like it's on rails shortly. Can't wait :D

Good work mate, im looking to do a similar job on the rear and front suspension of the focus at some point but money has dried up atm and with track times and Ford shows all over the cost to get to these and run the car is taking the mods money

Sorry to hear about the finger i too as a kid shut fingers in the door and was very painful, lucky to get away with only the skin taken off some fingers!

Cheers Ade. Buying the bushes is easy, but unless you know someone with a press, installing the bushes can be costly. Think I've spent about £550 on bushes and spare arms alone

Will hopefully see yours on track @ FF.

Soooo finally fitted the new front fork, had the rear compensator arms fitted as I generally didn't want to tackle it without ramps (due to the bolts being rounded off( and gave it to a local company to sort the geo and tracking out.

Image

It now handles fantastic. Much tighter and much easy to feed the throttle to control the backend - Dampers are on a softer setting on the rear and I may make them softer all round as currently they are bumpy as hell for the roads around here, but the damper and spring re-bound is amazingly controlled and precise. Really rate Mugen coilovers for what they are, much tighter than other coilovers I've tested in other Integra's.

Next up I want to service all four callipers before I stick some CL brakes on the front and use my RBF fluid - Still in half a mind with braided hoses on whether they will be worth the cost or not... More to come.
