All the bushes are fitted to the axle/arbs now.

Axle bushes were soo easy!
after standing around looking at them for around quarter of an hour and the boys telling me they were gona be a nightmare to get out and theres no point in changing them for the poly ones coz the standard ones are already solid rubber ones, put a bit of heat on em from the oxy acceteline gas, gave em a good whack with a hammer they came flying out! cleaned up the hole, slapped plenty of copper grease on and simply pushed the poly ones in by hand! was done in 10-15mins!

been having a bit of trouble tonight though getting holes in the mounting brackets on the arb to line up, pain in the arse as their all bent out of shape.

but i will finish sorting that tommorow afternoon, might just widen the holes a bit to help the bolt fit through.

hopefully fitting the axle onto the car tommorow as well if all goes well.

also picked up my rs manual quick rack and manual steering column from gary last night. but that wont be going in for a while yet.

took him for a spin in the ignis as well, he was quite impressed. lol

haha.

well the axles on the car!! finally! lol been sat in the garage for a year and a half!

was a right potch to fit it, on my drive, on my own in the dark lol. got the old one off including flexis and handbrake cable and then fitted the new beam on in about 2 to 2.5 hours, which isnt bad i dont think considering conditions. my backs aching now though haha.

finished fitting the arbs to it in work earlier this afternoon, had to drill the holes out a touch with the cone cutter to help them line up so i could get the bolts through. got some new longer bolts for it as well.

its on there now, just gota finish a few bits on it in the morning.

the brake lines are piped up but leaking at the moment as ive used 2 washers in between the flexi and the metal brake pipe so the union doesnt tighten up far enough. then need to bleed them.

and i just need to connect the handbrake cable to lever. the cables a bit short at the moment though, might need to adjust it in the drum to connect it up but i dunno yet.

will service the brakes when i get it down work anyway. think it could do with 2 wheel bearings as theres a bit of play in them as well.

well heres some crappy pics for now as it was dark, but i will get some better ones tommorow.

Looks good.

Dunno why people don't just weld in a big fuck off bit of box section in the rear beams, will be stiffer than 2 arbs

Its not a bodge.
Welding in some steel compared to bolting on more things? Erm..

The fiesta championship cars have it done for a start, so clearly works.
Would work better than any amount of arbs.

Rear discs also bring no issues, the only people to complain are people that can't drive and bin their fiesta... first thing they blame is the rear disc conversion.

as long i i get a bias valve fitted on there i can set it up using the brake tester in work.

and my drums used to lock up on this car before.

my mate has them on his escort and he doesnt have lock up on the rear. only his 300mm on the front locks up.

the handbrake works off a drum like it would have before.

yea i know, i had some on my escort, but they would have been sweeter if they had the winding piston like the focus ones use, much simpler reliable design

just pop some of them normal fiesta bias valves in the rear lines and see what its like at work, preferably check the effect normal drums have first to compare with :)

My pickup never used to lock the rears up.. I was running 300mm on the front, escort servo and RS2K rears... and that was lighter than any stripped fiesta on the rear end.

Yeah my rear disks are fine, and i have standard Si bias valves. I think it helps that i have 300mm disks on the front.
But i've had no problems, fronts will lock up wayy before the rears do, even in ice

i would have thought rs2000 ones would be better than focus ones, as they are a twin pot design.

well ive got st24 brakes on front (which i believe have the same size piston as the 300mm ones) and these rs2000s on the back, i wana get a mondeo servo/master cylinder as well.

paul did you notice much difference with the discs on the back?
