hmm interesting stuff. and i know it will be a lot cheaper than the turbo conversion and will probably be cheaper to run that the turbo? :P

if someone can list everything i will need from loom down to the other stuff i think that will push me along... then i can price things up ey sam ;)

1.6 cvh engine, efi not Carb.. from a pre zetec xr2i (mk3)
The engine bay loom.. and ecu.

You could keep your box but I'd try get an xr2i box to go with it.

And exhaust downpipe etc.

Not much more tbh.. maybe different water pipes or Rad, but doubt that.

The CVH was binned due to emmisions regs.. which is they the XR2i ended up with the RS1800 spec Zetec engine.
There isnt much in it between the 2 engines!

I'd go for it over a turbo, less money, and still go pretty well :)

I'd be tempted to stick a better cam in it tho, and a decent exhaust manifold.... but as its going in a newer car, I dunno if they would test its emmisions.. they shouldnt do, as that engine was pre-cat i think

oh yea pre cat deffo, the rad will be fine, but the temp sensor for the fan switch on cvh's is in the thermostat housing not on the rad, so just leave the sensor in the rad so plug it :D

deffo a good conversion to do

for the 1.4 its simpler to go for the 1600 cvh, you'd have to find either a RS1800 spec 1.8 or a 2,0 zetec to be better off, yet someone already has the engine for you and im sure he will do it nice and cheap :D

LOOOOOL at all of you rah rah rah-ing about what i said. and petrol jumping in without reading..... i said XR2 not XR2i ! CARB...no loom, no nothing. and its 96bhp out the box ben so a step up from your 1.4 :thumbsup: yes its not efi etc etc but i got better fuel consumption from my xr2 ragging it alllll the way to ford fair than adam did driving nicely :thumbsup: and a K&N filter, cam and exhaust would make over 100bhp easy :thumbsup: ...... im not saying definately do it over a 2i lump or turbo lump but they are cheap as chips ;) turbo is the way forward in life but it is silly money when it goes wrong which may end up being quite often lol on saying that i may know someone with a zetec engine mount already converted to fit onto a cvh mounting point if you do go zetec route :halo:
