do they open it fully from closed then now mate? mine are very pathetic and struggle to keep it open when i lift it!!!!

yeh the early mk3 ones are much stronger the boot has no chance but to fly open really pleased with them may have sourced some anti roll bar brackets and a manual steering column and xr2i rack, so going to start getting it fixed up

well i havent done much to the si recently just been cleaning it and polishing it while its being sat in the garage, but i have mainly been buying parts that i need for when it starts to get fixed up which will start probably after ive been to america may 2010, which i really cant wait to do, im going to orlando with my best mate who is to be the best man at my wedding which ive not set a date yet though but want to do everything i can before me and my fiancee grace do get married im going to orlando for a week then im driving to miami and staying there for a week, we couldnt afford a mustang as a hire car (my dream car) but managed to get a chrysler sebring convertible

i know its not exactly a mustang its just a big america criuser that probably doesnt handle and its front wheel drive but should be good though

slight update on the si project

rubbed down and painted the xr2i 16v engine mount




bought a manuel steering rack and column



plan is to exchange the rack in for a recondition one

also bought a brand new rear anti roll bar bracket from ford

and hopefully later on today ordering in 2 under car heat sheilds (if they still do them ) as mine are crap



also got a price for a full genuine ford head gasket kit and idle control valve for £130

also plan on getting roose motorsport hose kit

just going to buy parts here and there and in june 2010 start to get it fixed up

Sweet, sounds good mate! I managed to get four new ford anti roll bar brackets in the end. Was in Warrington randomly and decided to pop into the ford dealer whilst I was there (it was huge) and they had four in stock so I got them all. The guy there confirmed that ford had stopped doing them too. The funny thing is, the one I ordered from the llandudno branch (where I am keeping the car) is still on back order now, after me ordering it at the start of august! I am still awaiting the phonecall saying it has come in Useless!

im starting to be really enjoying driving the runabout xr2i replica it hasnt broken down for 2 months!!!!!!!!!!

ive down a couple little changes to the car

starting off with the rear pillar covers and as its really a LX it didnt come with any and it looks a bit bare without them, so i took the pillar covers from the si im breaking





its not a bad job but have to drill 2 holes and remove the parcel shelf supports

looks better i think

also i changed the horrible big steering wheel on the runabout and replaced it with a mint si steering wheel which is smaller and used the same airbag as it fits all the same

it doesnt look much different in the pictures but it sure does feel a lot nicer and more sporty
