Easy :) Just need a good drill bit. Make sure the suspenion is dropped far as it will go when you put the strub brace in if the suspension is on when you put the brace in. So much easier to get the nuts on if you use nuts + bolts rather than rivnuts which some people use :)

Oh my bad lol i read it wrong xD
Do you still have to drop the strut if you are using riv nuts though? Or would i just have to go careful i don't drill too far :P

hey mate, just read from like page 20 lol

one note the 2f etc ecu fromt he RS1800 wont run in this car, its got external edis where your car has internal edis built into the ecu

ive been there and done that lol, the only ecu that runs it is either a BLOB from a mk1 mondeo 1.8, a CULt from the later RS1800 or any fo the mk1 mondeo 2.0 ecus, simple way of knowing is internal edis ecus have a code thats a word, and no letters unlike earlier ecus

shame about the crash, its actually similar to how my first Si was, thinking about it i could have easily repaired that car :( :( fuck! mine was somewhat less damaged in a way

good luck with the rest of the build :D

has the front panel been done yet?

yea, the pats on all mk3s and mk1 mondeos, and the later mk5 escorts are all external, so ecus can be swapped with no issues, mk2 mondeos and mk6 escorts you cannot though, i got given the JEST ecu with the engine/geartbox deal i had off ebay thats the engine i have now, its useless as the pats is internal, and you'd need to reprogram it via ford, and thats worth more than the £50 for a mk1 mondeo ecu, so little point

if your not fussed on having the higher map,t hen a BLOB ecu will do fine, mine runs fine on it and is plenty powerful, but yea as a rule ive noticed all the named ecus have internal edis, which is needed to control the ignition system

if it has a number in it say no :)

any ford thats after 93 is likely got internal edis, so thats all mmk3.5s practicly, but every Si will yes, including the 1.4, thats why if you were to use a xr2i engine and ecu, you'd need the whole engine loom also

shit, im confuzled now lol

so my si has internal pats?

and the JEST ECU IS INternal as well?

but my rs1800 2FDC ecu is external?

btw i have a escort gti engine loom, a 1800 xr2i engine loom and car loom.

ive also got the 1400 ecu, engine loom and car loom?

what will i need for it to work?

lol ok, ill go simple as i can

any ford before 1993, typically had a ecu code like 2fcd for example, these are external edis, its built into the engine loom (all pre 93 with ford EEC-IV management)

anyford after upto about 1995-1996 has internal EDIS but external pats,
so nothing from before 93 will run the engine but the ecus can be swapped as theres no security on them, its built into the car loom

any ford after 96 eg mk2 mondeo, or a focus or mk6 escort, the ecus cant be used in an Si,
as the pats wont allow the car to be run as its immobilised

the escort GTi is only available as a mk6, so its JEST ecu cant be used

you can fit the escort loom, but its far more of a headache than its worth, id fit the 16v XR2i/Si/RS loom, it will be tricky here and there, but yea its easier and will run your Zetec e on a mk1 mondeo BLOB ecu perfectly

you have a CVH/PTE engine in your Si, the easiest conversion for you would be a 1600 CVH, liek the XR engine or even RST engine, it will botl in easy and be only a few mods to the engine loom

if you want to stick tot he Zetec, you only have to swap a few pins around on the engine loom plug :) (grey plug in the bay)

hey if you need a hand mate, just gimme a text :) you still got my number?
id be happy to make a weekend of it

i know most of the things you need to do to fit a Zetec to a CVH fiesta, you'd be better off with a zetec gearbox, eg the Si one, the 1.4 one might not be the best for it, it be a bit short, so your fueling would suffer

so what if i use the xr2i loom and change the plug etc and the rs1800i 2fdc ecu? will that work? or will i have to get a cult ecu?

i was gona drop an xr2i cvh in originally. i got the engine loom and a 1afa ecu here.

but then decided to zetec it.

the lad in work whos going to help said zetec is the best way to do it.

he should be able to do it he says. hes changed looms around before to fit a zetec turbo in his erst.

i got lots of contacts through work which can sort me out with stuff.

but i got your number if i need you matey.. cheers! :)

i wana try and get a erst lsd box tbh.

the car loom will need to be changed for the older ecu to work

its more trouble too, just get the right ecu for it and run it on a Si engine loom
