Yea thanks, i knew it was o.t.t

Hopefully my best mates bro (even though he is a mouthy bugger and saying i should scrap it lol) or another mate can sort the car out ready for painting by grinding the arches back and filling them.

I'm watching boots on ebay and i think it will be cheaper to strip a new boot get it painted and refit it myself!

Used that drywash turtlewax and it seems to work!

No pics as the car is again dirty lol

I was just pleasantly surprised it worked.

Also, one of my rear wheel bearings has developed a rumble

New plans for the escort :)

Odd bits and bobs first

1: Rear Wheel Bearing
2: Standard Exhaust for now
3: 2 front tyres
4: Alternator Belt tensioner pulley
5: Bodywork

Once these are out of the way

1: 2.0 zetec with decent ecu (unlike a friend running a 2.0 on a 1.8 ecu  :? )
2: Decent Suspension
3: Better Brakes!
4: Upgrade Stereo System

Although my sister has a 1.4 mk3 3 dr fiesta on a K Plate (1993) as a stand in car as she has just passed her test and will get rid of it in the summer. I am tempted to return to fiesta ownership!

Its quite clean, small rust bubble on front wing and sunroof, but rear arches and filler cap look solid :)

Shes put a loada pink stuff in it lol which will need to be removed!

I am torn between the above plans for my escort as i believe a 2.0 escort running properly with light mods will be quick enough yet not horrific on fuel, or return to fiesta ownership!

def decided not to go back to fiesta ownership and stick it out with the escort.

Sisters getting more probs by the day lol.

and its covered with pink details........

Went to wales this weekend to see the better half's dad and the escort didn't miss a beat.

Only the noisy rear wheel bearing and unbalanced alloys disturbed the drive from junction 11 to 32 on the m4 (a lil boring!)

Did 260 miles on 2/3 of a tank and i was doin 85-90 on the motorway so quite impressed. (hit 100-110 a couple of times but i soon slowed down  )

New tyres should be on this weekend so thats one less prob along with the pcv pipe, (new valve was fitted sat) (the PCV was a birthday present from my best mate which saved me the expense of £22! :) )

Also got my missus a KA 1.3 collection (y reg 21k miles Silver) on finance, obviously shes paying for it but its technically in my name but registered to her lol as she was rejected for finance

but they are taking her punto in part ex (which is a good thing as it needs clutch, exhaust, tyre, a bolt in the head retapping as the rocker cover won't seal as the thread on a bolt is knackered hence an oil leak and theres play in the steering and its a fiat lol) and she is joining the blue oval!

That makes a house of fords :) 8-)

Mum: 1995 escort 1.4 MK5B (purchased from the people who reposess cars with no insurance or tax or mot for £273)

Dad: Mondy MK1 Estate TD (workhorse, wants the new mondeo estate)

Sis: mk3 1.4 (carb'd 8-) ) Fiesta (embarassing but a ford)

Me: You know lol the good old escort

Kirsty (gf): Ka Collection.

Mum and Dad are back off to France soon but that will leave a house of three fords and mines got the most rust

Going to attempt the smoked headlight modification soon so depending on the results (lol) i'll whack some pics up :)

Yes :)

Positivity lol

Next couple of months will be sorting things out for the mot.

A rear wheel bearing turned up this morining dad must have got it for me :)

That Leaves:

1: Tyres and tracking and balancing the alloys
2: Fitting said wheel bearing
3: Standard exhaust for now (so it passes mot and i have not alot of money due to other outgoings ie mortgage  )

Then it will be general clean-up of bodywork, found a boot on ebay just need to a: win it and b: transfer my spoiler onto it and get the arches done. The front wing will be a "to-do" as i am not hugely bothered lol

Cheap mods in between like tinting front and rear lights and maybe a laguna splitter?

And by calling me a Barstard i assume you don't get 260 miles on 31 litres of fuel lol :homo: ;)

47 litres i believe and most of the driving i did was on the motorway at 85-90 with the odd chase an astra or something above 100 lol

2/3 of that is 31.33 litres
mpg total= 31.33/4.5 = 6.96 gallons
260/6.96= 37.36mpg

Fiestas are 42Litres in capacity

So at 260 miles you are: 260/9.33= 27.87mpg
and at 280 miles you are: 280/9.33= 30.01mpg

(4.5 litres to a UK gallon as i have to work out oil prices per gallon as an estimator 8-) )

Whilst clearing the gf's punto ready for ka exchange today (hopefully)

i decided that ford didn't need the sub and amp (not the best ever admittedly as its spl-x but it does sound alright as i had fiddled around with the settings 8-) ) and the alpine headunit (which i discovered had been butchered in as all the wiring had been hard wired!)

so i left a peugoet 405 tape player in there which i couldn't wire up  and the 6x9s i left as kirsty didnt want to take it to ford with holes in the shelf

so the headunit and sub and amp will be making their way into the boot of my escort :) As kirsty also doesn't want the already minimal boot space in the KA being eaten up by a sub and amp so i have free mods! 8-)

:x

Went to change headunits yday and noticed that rather than a proper adpater, my existing cd player was bodged in with a complete surround screwed to the cage, which was cable tied in

Got this out and i thought in my wisdom that the alpine would be ok on the kenwood adapter as it fitted in when turned upside down.

I was obviously wrong  as a fuse blew and the alpine started smoking and my car now stinks. :(

I reverted back to the original headunit which is not as good and plugged the rca and amp live was wired in. i have the sub and amp in boot with the wiring which i will try and finish today or some point.

Then thought i had lost my wallet and cancelled my cards only for it to turn up in kirsty's car this morning even though she was adamant it wasn't there and had a go at me for losing it.

New cards are taking at least 3 days to arrive and i'm on the red!

fun and games as usual! but i should have a sub and amp wiredup soon!

Bodywork Issue 1 Solved 8-)

Puchased a NON (emphasis on non!) rusty state blue boot and spoiler of ebay for the princely sum of £10

Shame my dad got one two so i have 2 boots!

But me being me, i got the state blue with spoiler from Mansfield

326 mile round trip here we come

Hopefully my rear wheel bearing is getting fitted later :)

Also, tomorrow i get two new front tyres, tracking and balancing for £60.60 :)

so part of the bodywork will be sorted, the bald tyres affecting my handling will disappear and the rumbling from unbalanced wheels and rear wheel bearing will go to, and my car will go in a straight line without wearing out the inside edge of the tyres as it currently does.

The only bad thing is that 326 mile drive!

Project is on the up 8-)

all the above completed 8-)

Rear wheel bearing:

The old one collapsed when it was taken out so i guess it was buggered

Two Tyres:

(pic to follow)

They are ceats from Kwik Fit.

I know they sound crap, but they are the same compound as pirellis (a sub-company of pirelli) but are a third of the price so obviously kwik fit don't tell customers about the pirelli parentage as they would rather make more money on pirellis themselves

~(obviously the tread pattern is different but for two tyres, tracked (6mm out! ) and balanced (my original balancing was nothing, much better now) for £60.60 i'm not complaining :)

They also looked under my car and there are no holes to report, :) ,
but my exhaust has been gum gummed so its quiter, i'm using my mates dicount to get centre and rear when i get paid for £66 (should be double that!) and if i can get two more tyres for the back,as they were made in 1999 and are perishing ever so slightly!

Boot:

Well the fun i had here. I'll get a pic of the boot up but it's got a F.U.K badge on lol so that will have to be removed! The boot wouldn't fit in the escort for love or money, so the bloke fitted it for me there and then, and took my old boot, (i regret not taking a pic of this, my old boot was, how can you say, rotten!) so i now have a non rusty boot :)

Did the 330 mile trip on just over 3/4 of a tank :P

Also, petrol in mansfield is 100.9p, down south here in blackwater its 105.9p!

Might get my arse in gear and wire up the sub and amp, and my god does the car need a clean! the car is now motorway grime white with black brake dust effect wheels![/b]

Sunday Update

My mate knows someone who collects cars for scrapping, and he rung yesterday and had a state blue escort 1.6.

so we went up there and as my electric mirrors are busted, (fittings snapped so are loose as anything) i helped my self to the master cylinder for my mums escort, the maf sensor to whack on ebay lol, the mirrors and the headunit as it has the surround and i want to try and fit this back into my car.

All this was nothing 8-)

Also, he is going to let us know if he collects a 2.0 mondeo, so i can rob the engine and ecu (wiring) :)

Now the boots fitted, the heated rear screen ain't working   so i am going to check the wiring at some point but the escort is starting to look up, and it is much much better to drive with tyres and balanced and tracked wheels

I also just treated myself to a k+n panel filter  which i really shouldn't have but hey lol :)
