hey peeps, little update on the rocker cover i bought off Fiestasi Phil!! i want it black with red detailing to match th rest of the car!

got busy one saturday mornin at work n pressure washed the rocker cover to get rid of oil residue, once dry i hit it with a wire brush air tool to key up those hard to reach places, then downgraded from p180, p240. p320, p500 on a DA Sander.



later that day i got it home ready for primer n paint in my garage!! the paint is nothin special , jus Aerosol primer from halfords along with Smooth Black Hammerite aerosol.



amazingly 3 coats of this primer n the can was empty!!! haha



then for the black stuff!!!!



3 coats of paint later n it was left in the sun to bake for the rest of the day.

sunday i got my fine paint brush ready n painted the DOHC 16V n the Ford logo in red, also painted the lines across the cover.



monday evening after work i got busy fitting it. i bought a new gasket from ford for £9.

im really chuffed with how it turned out. im planning on doin the same to th exhaust heat shield, gota make sure the paint will not flake off cz of the heat

i used 2 fine 'touch in' brushes from work, did the logos free hand, n masked the two solid lines.

throttle cable has marked it slightly but cant be helped.

Looks a vast improvement!

The escort bay looks soooooo big! Its because the battey is near the bulk head not above the gearbox like the fiesta!

Get A ZT in there with an Ian Howell exhaust maniflold as his sits the Turbo over the gearbox!

soo, i thought id better get crackin with Bob if i was to get him lookin nice for ford fair. im goin away the week commencing ff so now was the only option.

List of things to be done:

Repair and repaint front bumper (Scuff on n/s and stone chips)
Tint foglights black.
Refurbish 2 of my alloy wheels.
Hammerite drums black and calipers red.
Paint manifold heat shield black n red (Like rocker cover)

so monday mornin i went to work at 6am to strip the bumper n prep it before i start work at 8am.











you can clearly se the scuff. was there wen i bought the car in May 07.



all sanded dwn n ready for primer, this was done monday 6pm.



fresh primer!!



tinted my foglights metalic black as they were the only pair of lights left on the car that werent 'in' with my black n red theme.



a quick test on the car to see how much light shines thru, not bad at all, goin to buy the rally bulbs to make them non yellow.

last nite while i painted the bumper and was baked i started my alloys.



nothin major, jus nudged the kurb goin round a painted island.









all flatted n ready for paint, im only paintin the outer lip of the rim on both alloys, easier.



this ones the nasty one.



sanded smooth using DA sander, like new jus requires primer n paint.



the bumper, once it was fully baked. like new.



back on the car last nite lookin gud, lovin my fogs!!!!



all set now, jus need to paint my drums n calipers, n the maniflod heatshield.
