alrite i see u have alot of primer on the arches and the strip below the rear lights


is that all from rust ???

can i ask how you dealt with the rust???

thanks i have some on the arches aswell dunno wats best way to deal with it and respray as im assusimin i will have to respray whole side of car if i was too do it

looks much better with that z-s bumper....

as for the painting, take some wet and dry to that primer, the sharp edges need to be removed. take the grades higher until it is smooth.

You should be able to see the original colour of the car through the primer and make sure you smooth the gradient into the rest of the primer aswell.

when it comes to spraying a colour do not mask it up, only mask large areas such as your window. as when you do colour you want to be able to let the spray follow off and merge into the original colour. This will make it easier to finish it off.

If you want me to run through it a little better, I will. Im not an expert at painting but ive learnt enough to get a half decent finish

Well small-ish update.

As you may have seen me ranting on about the chuffin hole that I made in the floor pan the other week.. which is now been sorted (for now) and another mate of mine at a garage is gonna cut it out and weld it up proper for me soon

I ripped the back seats out, and pulled most of the carpet up I could, without removing the front seats as I didnt have time, to check the floor pan.
No problems with it, underneath looks alright, just needs under sealing again when I get chance.

Found that there was some rust under the door seal rubbers, so I have attacked that and they are now sorted.

The pics were taken while in mid attacking lol











But as you can see there is abit of rust around the bottom of the boot seal, but I shall get that sorted, when or if I get the MK4/5 Boot conversion done...

Other plans are, to get some parts from Mattyboy's Si and other parts when I get the cash.. Get a 2.0ltr engine in..

Fit the xr skirts and arches, don't think I will smooth them in as they would probably crack..

and I want to get it all sprayed up.. Mate of mine is going to do it, but I need to figure out what colour.. not sure if I want to keep it the same colour or not.

So the 5 door lives on, and its just hit 126,000 miles and the 1.6 engine just won't give up
