Check the pipe which runs from the fuel pump to the turbo, it runs under the fuel filter on the right hand side of the engine, if this has split it makes it run like a sack.

What you need to be doing is turning the preboost fueling screw up a little, wont have any issue with low off boost power ;)

O/S lower arm removed

with the two wishbones and the gaiter done, this arrived this morning

coudlnt for the life of me get the old pipe off the mid section while on the car, hammering the hell out if it and it wouldnt budge, even penetration fluid wasnt helping

so had to take the whole midsection from the cat back off
Image
Image
Image

back on the car
Image
Image

all done with that, not that it was loud without it, but its nice and hush quite now

pictures of the sill repair, it will get a new sill one day as this is temporary, i know crappy welds, but its the best i could get out of my crappy mig, even with gas!
Image
Image
Image

also replaced the fog light bulbs
Image

ive sorted out the washer jets, the tube was blocked, a spare tube/hose is fitted and is much better, the jets aint all working, but 2 our of four will do, each side is working
also aimed them right

then began topping up the fluids, coolant and powersteering fluid
Image

in the middle of sorting the horn, after checking the fuse, button behind airbag, connections behind them, and the runner behind the wheel itself, nothing all fine, then checked the wiring under the wing, rust earth cleaned still nothing, tested horn itself, knackered, so if i can get another in the morning before work good stuff, otherwise ill have to try and use the fiestas one for the test untill i can sort one out

all the cars ive broken for sapres and no bloody spare horn, gonna gather loads from now on!

MOT is booked for 4pm tomorrow, so wish me luck :Q

What tools did you need for the lower arm?
I need to check to make sure I have the right ones (lost a load) before I start doing mine

Hope it passes the MOT mate :)

A solid ratchet, the ones that don't turn, and a extension tube, or just a long power bar, a impact 15mm socket

Ball joint breaker, think it was a t30 or so torques ratchet, a 17mm socket and ratchet, and a 18 mm longish sinner for the nuts on the top of the lower arm carrier
Some copper grease

Oh and Phillip hammer :)

well it failed :|

the escort is now in the hands of my local, he has the list so ill have to try and remember

was 2 pages long, about 16 items

mostly stupid things such as bulbs and rubber items, anyway

1 n/s headlight aim too low
2 o/s headlight aim too high and wide
3 n/s front indicator lamp wrong colour
4 near number plate lamp not working
5 brake pedal rubber grip excessively worn
6/7 both rear road wheels excessively buckled
8 n/s front coil spring snapped on top and bottom
9 o/s front wiper blade worn
10 o/s track control arm excessively worn
11 front lower gearbox rubber mount is excessively worn (cant remember if it was just an advisory or not)
12 o/s front steel brake pipe corroded
13 o/s rear steel brake pipe corroded
14 n/s rear steel brake pipe corroded
15 /os rear suspention mount area excessively corroded
16 n/s rear suspention mount area excessively corroded
17 rear hand brake adjustment exceeds limit

the mechanic is doing the following
the welding, brake pipes, track rod end, pedal rubber, coil spring and the headlamp adjustment

ill do the rest as theyre all easy enough, bunch of blades and a orange bulb, ill have to fit another pair of wheels

should be done by wednesday latest, and ill rebook it free of charge
hate it when things cost more than you expect even when you expect them to cost more then you expect (ha if that makes sense)

but ive come too far and spent too much to turn back for these silly things

oh and apperently my pas pump pulley bearing is on its way out and is making a whinning noise, i figured it was just a diesel being a noisy diesel

my worst failure so far out of all the cars ive owned
once its done im keeping this one for a bloody while, after all this fuss

Doesn't beat my old 106, but thats quite a few! Should have bought a banger with ticket on to thrash for a whlile, would have saved you some cash. But at least it'll be done soon

thinking about it the seller must have known, explains the price, baxtered
the worst of it is the rear chassis needs welding,

its mainly done now, just one more brake line and bleeding, then headlight adjustment and a new indicator bulb, wiperblades and ill pop my fiestas wheels on the back untill i buy some new ones!

never liked the xmas tree wheels it has anyway

should be getting it back tomorrow, then mot/tax it later that day or thursday

im planning on getting either some BBS sharktooth lookalikes, some cheap Zetec S wheels, or some RS7 softlines in 15s

what you think?

Update

heres how she looked when i popped up there earlier
fuel tank was off, the owners son giving his welder some runs underneath and the new brake lines were just finished prior, needs a few more things and shes back in my care

Image
Image
Image
Image

cant wait to get her back, ill pop my dvd player, and sub in, have the ISO leads and a facia read for it, already tucked my toolkit under the boot floor, and working on this for it

its a 115/70/15 spacesaver i got off the XR
prepping
Image
Image
Image

the only colour :Q
Image

didnt fancy anything else in the inventory
Image

as i left it after its first coat on both sides
Image

will update tomorrow/thursday if well it should pass :P
goign to rape my discount tomorrow for some wipers, after its on the road and i get paid it will see a full engine service including the two driveshaft belts :(

well my old man took it to the station earlier after i dropepd off some bosch 19" wipers (meant to be 20 oops)

come home to see it had passed :D after finding out that the tax has gone up, it got 6 months on it, 118.75 now!

been out in it all night, fitted my dvd headunit, but need to get an ariel adapter as the mk3 uses a longer one than the escort, tup

fitted the monitor too, tomorrow ill fit the sub and 16cm front speakers hopefully

im loving the space in the back :P

think ive decided on a set of RS7s from a mate whos Constantly picking up sets of wheels to sell on,

the other choises were, 16" mondeo Si wheels, or these BBS sharktooth lookies, or them wolfrace 6 spokes

decisions decisions
