Your Si never fails to impress on looks and power for saying it's a 1.6.

cheers for the comments people...
cams arrived today, so its in tommorrow to get them fitted while im at work...im patient you see...
i think it'll do good at the next RR, very confident the cams will do a good job with the head...
not only that, i think that fact most of my loom has been chewed on and a few other niggles may have held it back a smidge....
another rr-day needed, although i am planning on a santa pod "showdown" with my dad and brother :lolz: :lolz: maybe that will give an indication on how much its improved over a year
thanks for the good comments again!
andy

idle isn't too bad, fairly subtle... power seems up (over 100bhp im sure), but haven't let it warm up yet, might take it for a spin later...
should see 105bhp ish which will do me fine for a while.. :D

i originally spoke to saq about turboing it a year or so ago... gathered most of the parts and spent the best part of £700 but money kept mounting up and i couldn't afford it. Main reasons being - i planned on doing a budget build of £500 which included the turbo, some pipework, decomp plate and a few other bits. Then we decided megasquirt. Then Low comp Pistons. and we couldn't arrange fitment of these parts either, let alone mapping..

i would fancy a turbo, but would prefer a runaround first :chill:

10 months and no update... says something about Full time work and no money!
not a great deal has changed, but as some of you know i failed my MOT recently which prompted a couple of changes....
firstly; it's quite shocking but abit of a testament to my car; i found i was still running around on original brake discs and clutch at 70k miles! clutch may not be such a suprise but i thought the brakes were well worth a mention!
clutch still remains while the discs have been changed for the MOT. Also changed were the lower arms, so i've gone from polybushed to standard... the driveability of the car now is endlessly better. i'm not sure if it was something to do with my lower arms in particular or how they had been fitted but it drove like a crock of shit...
other change was the wheels; i've uniquely gone for a set of 15" escort GTI alloys...

i've fancied changing the wheels for a little while now and unsuprisingly the GTI alloys suit the Si really well. it's slightly more toned down to previously which probably suits me better (being used everyday to work etc).

Tyres are 195/45/15 Uniroyal Rainsports which are far better than my previous Fullrun tyres :lolz:
my Lenso RS5's are for sale in for sale section :)
Current plans are:

- New Rear lights (Euro or Standard).
- Space out wheels (longer studs too)

Not alot to do at the minute. in the long term i would like coilovers again and possibly a sports manifold, both of which i will only do if i have a runaround....
comments welcome as usual...
Thanks

thanks for the comments, and i have to admit i did prefer the Lenso's....
only problem was running around on them everyday i could begin to see little niggly chips/slight marks etc on them so thought i'd sell while they were still in good condition.
these wheels (and maybe the next set) are abit of a stop-gap. i will return with a new set on Lenso's later this year or next year, they won't be RS5's though :D

First update in over 6 months and unfortunately it's abit of a dull one...
So, as most of you know i'm currently in the Probe daily and the Fiesta is off the road with a few issues....well last week after cleaning the Si i noticed it was damp, and suffering as a result of it (had to throw away parcel shelf/carpet and turrets in boot) so it had to be garaged, sold (for pennies) or dry stored....
So i decided:

Image

This was a big decsion as ultimately it means i'm going to fix the Fiesta and sell the Probe  - i'm borrowing my dads garage and he wants it back in the coming months. Selling the Probe is a shame as it is a very good car, and it all honesty far better than the Fiesta. The plus points to returning to the Fiesta- Fuel economy, insurance is cheaper, looks better, easier to maintain and fix.

So, this is sort of the start of a small project..... first move was to remove the 15" GTi alloy wheels which are going to be replaced with Standard 14" Alloys

Image

Also, you will see in that picture an old parcel shelf. The rubbers snapped on it so it'snow been taken to the tip and i've put a spare one i had in...

If you've been watching my Technical Problems posts you will have no doubt noticed i've been whinging on about my Clutch/Gearbox being shagged. I've had a second and third opinion on this and it's neither gearbox or clutch... It's more likely to be a Gbox/Engine mount or something a miss in the exhaust (heatshield or something)....we noticed when stood still and idling if you push the inlet with some force (moving the engine 2-5mm as a guess) the rattling/metal noise occurs, hence why it only tends to happen when the car is pulling away coming off the clutch pedal. So some investigation into that issue is needed...

Whilst generally poking around i noticed a had a large amount of oil along the bottom of my engine and gearbox..

Picture of the back of the sump...

Image

The gearbox nearer the engine side of it...

Image

Picture of driveshaft, anything to worry about?

Image

Picture from the back of the sump looking up the back of the block

Image

Now, the oil seems to be coming from the switch/thing coming into the block mid-way up (can't remeber what it's for again), i remeber being told my Phil that these commonly leak. But slightly more of a concern is what looked like fresh oil on the underside of the inlet manifold (sandwich part, which joins the engine, not sure if it's visible in the pics). So would a leaky inner inlet gasket leak oil??? i can't see how but it was definately there... could have shot up from something though...

Anyway, We will be seeing the Fiesta back on the road around March/April time in full working order this time! My list of To Do's is horrendous!!
Lastly, What size spacers can i fit using Standard Si Alloy wheels? would 5mm be ok?

Cheers all
Andy

Good to see youve still got the same fiesta mate!
Shame you will be selling the probe, but ah well... it has its pro's.

The sandwich plate gasket thing that about 5mm thick has oil way breather bits in it.. so if thats cracked.. that could maybe cause some oil to leak from the inlet as such. but would also make it run like a sack as it'll be sucking air in.
