Time for another update, not a great deal, didn't get as much as i'd hoped done this week, but atleast i got something done.

I tidyed up the interior loom, so its no longer a mass of wires, i still think there's more i can remove from this.



Next was more unwanted weight removal

Heatsheilds, all bar the one covering the fuel tank, for obvious reasons.



Then it was the rear bumpers turn

And the amount of plastic removed off just the bumper and dash



I did want to stone chip the rest of the arches and the underside, but due to the damp weather i couldn't, all i manage to do was to treat some rust in the rear arch, suprisingly there's hardly any rust in the useual 106/saxo places, engine bay and the void where the spare wheel goes, pretty much all the rust is just surface and not eaten through like most.



And thats it.

Been a while since my last update, not done a great deal, but at the moment its just collecting parts and waiting for parts, which at the min im not too fussed about as im knackered from work.

So this saturday i did a few little bits.

Cracked out the trusty 70mm hole saw



Then the trusty angle grinder



All this was weighed and was around the 1.5kg mark, every little helps .

Then i saved another 2kg by swapping the OE wing Mirrors for these.





Need to save as much weight as possible to counteract the cage's weight, Looking at getting the weight down to >750kg but no less than 700kg, been toying with the idea of a GRP Bonnet, but i don't like the way they flap about at speed and there not that much lighter than the standard bonnet, bought some poly windows today, so that should save some more kg.

And thats about all i can show you at the moment, i do have other bits to do with the engine, but im censoring the engine side of things on the www as i need to keep a edge on the competitors, so all you need to know is its a 1.6 16v from a VTS (Percys VTS to be exact).

I have had some Crazy aero ideas for it, should be intresting!

Great to see a progress update matt! Good work

Glad to see my VTS will go to good use, it was such a shame the body rotted (due to being a cat c repair). Matt has seen first hand what that engine does when he had his 2.0 so in a stripped car it will be insane.

Hopefully the engine will be a masterpiece, a Mattyboy & Jam Special!

The Aero wont be to everyones taste, but im sure most will understand the point and it will fit in nicely with the series i hopefully will be built in time for.

Just had a new rear number plate made up by the graphics place 3 units down from my work, sticker FTW, not sure how much it saves over a normal (legal) plastic one, but i'll weigh them on my return on friday.
