Its hardly been runnung 12 years.. Its not been driven much, and what has been driven of it its been fuelling wrong.

You should take a lesson from myself and go for the better option, full management will give you a much broader control on everything instead of just one thing.

I'm not going to preach I think everyone else has said enough really.

whatever car i have people tell me how to make it better - like the st :lol:

but like i said £500 to make it safe for now will do me - 164bhp in a fiesta is fun (more like 170bhp on the road) once the fuelling is sorted i'll jack the fog lights off for a cold air feed for the air filter :)

woodsy is just a bloody wind up merchant :lol:

I get what you mean terry but i don't have the money for that now and don't particualry want to drive it for months overfuelling.

i'm no mechanic, i can't make looms so will need to pay for the lot. So i will make it safe for now.

I can supply you with an ECU if you like? Fully customisable metal casing which you can put stickers on, even draw on it too if you like! It has pins to plug into the loom, they are all there too. It has a code on it to tell you what ECU it is, and also! ALSO! It is from a fiesta. How good is that!

Yeah I'm not really helping matters here.

In all seriousness, the better option is to go full management, then you'll have no hassle in the future and it'll cost less. I know you cant afford it and just want it running good, but if you keep an eye out on ebay, locostbuilders, and other forums, you'll soon find a nice ecu :D

but as i have said nearly 1000 times -

1 - there isn't much cheaper
2 - it will still need fitting and mapping on top of the purchase price
3 - i need it sorted asap so the fuelling is good as opposed to all over the place

I was trying to hold back and be as diplomatic as possible and everyone else comes in full throttle cunting assault on why cheaping out on management is the first thing you should never do :lol:

End of the day the best thing to do is do what you can to eliminate bore-wash having a really adverse effect which is what you are doing.

I know where you are coming from Adam as you've just splashed out on the car and now you're being presented with spending another half of what you've spent on the car again.

But everyone is right. :P It's not so much the route you're going short term, it's more the fact then if/when you upgrade the management, I can't imagine anyone will need aftermarket fuel management on it's own so you will have to sell it for a lot less than you would any other type of management...

i would combine the management in the car with the fuel ecu management if i was selling anyway :P :lol:

Adam if I still had the car and had it on he rollers and was told what you have I would have no option but to go for the cheapest way to solve it, as long as it did.
I see what everyone is saying here but at the end of the day you only have what cash you can spare.

I would have loved for proper management to have been fitted long ago but we are not all made of money. Whatever Severn Valley done it must have been in a way safe otherwise it would have died a long long time ago. They did check the fuelling last year for me and the year before when there was an air leak but the only thing they don't have are rollers but it drove from Kent to Telford without skipping a beat.

Maybe I drove it like a grandad and never gave it too much right foot but it was always fine with the way it was. Just hope they haven't fucked it up by making it mega rich low down as I always found fuel consumption really good even taking it up to a steady 85 on long journeys.

it hasn't screwed it up being to rich - its marginally worse on fuel not terrible but the plan is to sort the fuelling for the AFR ratio next month :)

my point is that if it was going to go bang it would have done before 20,000 miles :)

i will go full management one day - but i wnat to do this now to sort it now and then save :)
