when you buy a strut brace new they come supplied with self tappers much like them, the thing is stuck there even without screws, so theyre purely to just make sure it doesnt move and to locate it. which they will do fine, you cant really bolt it anyway as the suspension bush is behind where your bolting to :P

Guess what, I know of where one will be used on the mk3. The jack/wheel brace area. Where the little bolt thingy winds into to secure them down, i think there is a rivnut there.

Rivnut guns and the pieces are good to have, better than most nut + bolt combos - as long as you do it right. I use a hand version of the tool pictures, its basically the same as a normal rivet gun.

But yeah, very handy to have and use.

well i got her back on the road today, new cover with insurance, fully comp this year, dont know why though my total excess including young drives is £650... the car is only just worth that to the eyes of a buyer or the like
but obviously its priceless to me so if in the case id just like it to be taken care of, but they would likely just right it off if the repair was that sever... GRR

anyway, the wheels... dont like how it rides on them, too big and too low profile ont eh tyres :P

so theyre going to be sold on, so if anyone is interested, im looking for £160, they all have 4mm tread, id swap for RS2000 mk5 wheels with great tyres, or mk5 ZS wheels with tyres to match mine

something is up with the cams, its not going as it believe it should, the power is high up the band and its very sluggish low down, maybe the timing is to blame still...

ill have to ring kent up and check the advance on these cams

brakes are perfect, im very happy with them

and the sterut brace has made a nice difference, especially on a bend near me on the motorway thats a fast sweeping bend with a slight bump on it and its much more responsive and stable :D

tis all for now :)

Thats cams for you mate, my cams are a little less down low (although haven't had it running properly since they've been in, so not sure what its like normal!) and then they give you the kick up the top of the rev range, it'll always be slower at the lower revs with uprated camshafts me thinks.

Are my wheels Mk5 RS2000s? as there going to be for sale soon.. So if you wanna hold out for some :)

yours are the mk6 sorry mate, mk5 ones are the flat ones that are similar the my standards but with a slot in each spoke :( ive been afterr a set for over a eyar now lol

cams can vary i think, it depends on how they're made, they can be low down, mid or top, depends on the required application

but these dont give that much of a kick

Thats usually the way with cams, sounds about right you just need to change your driving style.

Yeah I know, i'm just saying most cams and probably your cams will be top end, Basically what you wanna do is rev the nuts of it on launch and not let it go below about 3-4k and you'll be alright :D

My cams are pretty harsh so I do feel a slight kick, nothing special though but the power and torque definately inceases! lol

Should definately feel quicker though once your up there in first every gear change should pull that bit harder if you stay high up.

Obviously a pain changing down gears, hills are fun once you hit it right

welcome to the world of "i got to rev shit outta my car to make it go!"

put the cat back on it, you will get more low down torque then.
