~slight update~

alex and i went too see whats was going on at enhanced performance on monday, on the way home we went for a little blast...

i have now developed nice blue smoke out my exhaust, there was a random puff early that morning but it cleared straight away, but on the way home there was big puff's and lots of it :cry:

i have been using alot more oil than i use too since my head was put back on, on thr way to ford fair i had random puff's of smoke coming out from under the car, which daz and alex were near on certain was being caused by my breather

i set out to remove and clean all my hoses and found most of them to be squeaky clean, so must be something in my breather that might be causing that :hmm:

but now i have this smoking issue :cry: which alex reckons might be my valve stem seals! i'm going to head back to southern rebore and see what the guy says as they were replaced when my valves were done!

i'm looking into runabouts as i type :lolz:

This months wsrsoc meet, Nat day and a trip to becks' might be her last for this month until this issue is sorted out

ps. i have owned her a year today :thumbsup: :D

smoke on overrun is normaly turbo seals, but it was the big puff on acceleration after the over run that would point to something more serious unfortunatly. As you say, it got worse after the head rebuild, which points towards it being something to do with that. As far as im aware, there is only the seals and guides that would play a part of combusting oil from the head :(

Im not going to slate anyones work, as i know SRS have a good reputaion. But unless it was by huge coincedence that something sprung a pretty big leak, it has to be the head :(

broke down again today :lolz:

my car seems to have a dislike for brighton and the surrounding area!! :x

basically i checked my oil and then fired her up as usually, all was good, until about 10 sec's into the journey leaving the car park in brighton, car started idling @ 2.5k and wouldn't settle! had to switch her off as i had to pay for the ticket, but she wouldn't started after i switched her off :cry:


called the RAC who arrived in 10 mins and got on the phone to alex(boost mad) we couldn't think what was up with it! i checked all the connectors i could think of

the RAC guy arrived and said it sounded like i had flooded the engine, so proceeded to do his checks, he kept telling me how good it is too see one on the road :thumbsup:

in the end he got it fired up but only by unplugging the injectors and plugging them back on one by one! she was now idling @ 3k :cry:

he couldn't sort it so he ordered me a low loader and off i went :lolz:

i got home and alex said he had a thought, that it might be the engine/coolant temp sensor at the back of the head, inlet side!

which jogged my memory i broke a clip to a sensor around that area, which was cable tied back on as a temp fix :red: :look:

so i think when i checked my oil i must of nudged the connector :lolz: :red:

she idles perfectly again now :thumbsup:

but it also made me think that maybe it was slowly coming loose and maybe that was causing my blue smoke issue?

going to order a new connector from ebay and get it fixed properly :D

i am sooo glad all is ok with it now, need to get that clip fixed tho :hmm:

hell yes, cheapest rid home from brighton i've ever had, the dude in the low loader was a bundle of happiness tho :rolleyes: :lol:

cheers for your help again today buddy :thumbsup: now if that sensor solves my smoking issue i'll be over the moon :lolz:

there is still deffo something burning underr the exhaust manifold tho, but i cant see what it is :hmm: :rolleyes:

funny how a tiny clip causes so much hassle. i broke a ht lead clip without knowing once and it left me puzzled for days.

easy fix :thumbsup:
