Coilovers and wheels will make the car look awesome mate :) i believe avo's have rebound damping on the rear and bump on the front, i checked when I got mine last august but not 100% sure now lol, but its something to bear in mind when playing with the damping settings :)

good stuff Ben, like the fiestas with the RS2000 rims, and the coilovers are easy to fit, youll not be long fitting them, and the car will soon be slammed and on its RS

Bascially bump and rebound is how the suspension acts. Bump is when it compresses (like when it goes over a bump), rebound is where it expands/extends.

So if the damping works on bump, it makes it harder for the shock to compress. If it works on rebound then it makes it harder for it to expand. The way you test is is by putting the damping to 0 with the shock extended, then put it all the way to the max, and push the piston down and pull it up, one way will be really tough and one will be easy, that tells you how its dampened. And iirc avo's are rebound damping.

Damning settings are all personal preference of course, but its kinda crucial to know how it all works for road use. Remember also, when you adjust the damping, you should always whack it back down to 0 then go to your desiered level. It properly resets it all then, learnt that from a race car technician.

And what part would you need an allen key for? The adjuster on the rear shock is a simple knob which you twist, and the fronts have i think a 6mm hex head on them which you just put a spanner on and twist it around.

1.4 fiesta si with avo coilovers and rs2000 wheels are the best fiestas lol :hmm:

should be having my wheels back from my mate next week.

what colour you doing yours ben??

with the coilovers mate, i would just leave em on the softest setting or maybe medium for road use. mine used to be way to stiff for round here...

would bounce all over the place..

As said, put the coilovers on the softest setting. Thats what ive got my avo's on and the ride is actually alot smoother than my old spax combo I had.

I think matt black would ruin the wheels, anthracite is way to common on them wheels too so I wouldnt do that, but if you wanted black, go gloss black, or to be really different, find a black which has a tint in them, something flakey perhaps, that would be unique and look awesome :)

thanks for the comments and suggestions chaps, have taken them down!

been a while since i've been on here or near my car! mainly been working, gardening in my spare time for extra cash and been sorting some stuff out for my dad. granny went back into hispital so been back and forth visiting her as my dads away lol so yeah, pretty hectic!

couple of new things, my black key is fucked, when i went to birmingham to get the stuff from tango, i went to a pub carpark to get the wheels, loaded them up and went to start the engine, key wouldnt turn, after a couple of kicks to the ignition it started! got home, and it would'nt start the car at all, is this by any chance the chip inside it?

so yeah, after that, i have started using my spare key :D not sure if people remember but a while back i wasnt able to open my passenger side door or my boot, lucky for me i didnt end up buying the lock barrels as my spare opens the lot :D so so so happy having a normal, opening boot!

right so now onto the serious stuff. although the car has been up the drive for the past week, ive been sorting out dates to get the stuff on, prepping certain parts and ordering some new'ns!
wishbones will be had in a couple of days, so once i have them, and sprayed the wheels and suspension, it can all go on :D to say the least, i am tooo excited to get it on, badly needs slamming and needs a new look  :chill:
first question...
i couldnt get it any lower by hand, guessing this is where the coilover spanner comes in?
Image
which are for the front, and which are for the rear?
Image
will hammerite be the best to spray the springs with?
Image
is this for the damping setting?
Image

fitted the new speakers i got from elpaulio (thanks again pal!)
Image
didnt go to plan originally...
drill bit snapped...
Image
drill bounced off the door onto my leg (was very lucky!)
Image
so borrowed my dads titanium drill bit which did the trick in seconds! sound so much better!
ImageImage
went to a tyre place the other day, i didnt want to fork out on new lower profile tyres for the rs's, so im going to have the 45's from the multispokes i have swapped onto them, and have the flush valves swapped for normal valves, since one is bust and id rather have normal valves! for all 8 tyres to be swapped, re balanced and the valves i got a quote for £60.00... any idea if this is a decent price?
so thats another thing sorted, plus minimum scrubbage :D
and final thing :teehheee: i know people have recommended for me to go for perhaps a gloss black, or something with a tint or flakey appearance for the wheels but i decided that i have a lot of matt black spray, ive already done the center caps and the fact i will get them properly done in the future will do for now. plus i would want the right colour for them (which i dont want to rush to decide) and i cba forking out a load more cash on spray :D
i know most of you dont think it will look good but give me the benefit of the doubt and just wait for the finished article to see how it looks :D if it looks shit, ill cry!

essay is now finished, thanks for reading if you have made it up to this point!

ben

The rounded ones are for the front... I think. Mine were rounded on the front but didn't really see the back.

Yes thats the dampening settings all the way one way is softest all the way the other is hardest.

Yes £60 aint a bad price to be honest. Normally £15 a wheel fitted and balanced. Garages are a rip off.

Just paint them with some black hammerite or something, won't matter too much you won't see them anyway.

Matt black FLT

cheers chris mate.
yeah, i go there for my tracking, so thought id give them a try, seem okay though!

rightio, and yes ;) atleast someone will like the matt black :P
and yeah but i rubbed the springs down and it revealed some rust so it needs to look better than rust so a wee spray will sort it!

what about the collars chris? do i need the spanner for that yeah?

Yeah a C spanner, Or a good set of grips some that will hook in the little gaps.

There only about £6 on ebay, I've on idea what size you would need though. You would have to measure it, and i've no idea where you measure either :D
