i got hold of some good condition front and rear bumpers from my car at the weekend, they were a slightly diff shade of tourmallard green to my car so i resprayed the front bumper today and fixed all the inperfections and stone chips on it and it looks minty mint now 8-) just needs a wet sand and cut when the laqure had hardend over 2 days ;)

sanded down

no problem, i have been told i have to take a week and a half of work between now and march so were sort something out in the new year ;) but yeah im impressed with it for cans, i no i did my arches and stuff with rattle cans but there such a small area, i was worried about doing the bumper with them due to the surface area! but im chuffed :D

dooner: cheers, just got the rear one to do now  but i wont be doing that till next year as im too busy lol

will be fitting the front one tomorrow hopefully! need to fix the splitter onto it and then fit my fogs and surrounds from my other bumper as this opne came with one smashed foglight and 1 mallard green surround and one tourmallard aurround

took one of the fog light surrounds of the car a min ago and put it on the new bumper and the colour match is perferct 8-)

Terry: Paints4u.com.....they should have it :)

Jamie: Thats brilliant, have you noticed when you rub it down and polish it up....it doesn't stay shiny as long as if you just leave it? Why did you sand and polish can i ask, cos it looked prett mint before, and what grit paper and polish stuff do you use?

terry i think your bit of damage will be pretty easy to sort out, get that scuff done on the corner aswell ;) the stuff i used on my scuff on my bumper was really good but as it was a rush job and i didnt laqure it the paint has rubbed away from polishing lol hence why i got the new bumper :)

alex: what your talking about is proberly because there isnt enoth laqure on the surface as you need so when you rub it down you actually rub away all the laqure that you had on it leaveing just the paint polished up which will fade ;) reason i sand down on the laqure is to get rid of the 'orange peal' effect compleatly to give i nice crisp shine :D i used used p600 on the primer and also on the colour and then used p600 very lightly on the laqure and then p800 as a final flattern then polished up with tcut then used megs paint cleaner and then megs polish :) ran out of polish tho so its not as shiny as i could be and also have no wax!

nah you should see how much lacquer i use....tons.....i usually use like 1200 grit to rub it down, or 1500, and then 3000 to finish off....but even still...i polish it up nicely...its not orange peely but isnt as glimmery as before....and then after a few weeks needs polishing again :(
