still looking for another session at Ford Fair , so if anyone wants to sell there track time , let me know

Had a phone call from a local company who want to sponsor my car for next year, CAMELLION POWDERCOATERS LTD , thyre based in Glasgow, and seen the car at Knockhill on Sunday. They want to powder coat all the bits on the car, and do a vinyll wrap on it with there compoany logo, I have a meeting with them on Friday to discuss it all, well chuffed


So ll going well after ford fair, the car will be getting stripped for a full rebuild , and all the components powder coated and the shell repainted inside and undebonnet and new decals for next year , ill see what they want , and make a decision then

It started missing going down the front staright, and looked down to see the temp guage about 3/4 up , so backed off , then looked in the mirror and seen a big plume of oil smoke out the back, and pulled off straight away incase i was spilling oil on the track

Found that the plug on the front of the block for the timing tool, had came out and was spewing oil onto the manifold, and it looks like maybe the head gasket has gone too, because i was goin a bit mad with the NOS on that session

So thats it going in the garage to get all tidied up for next year, with some welding needing done to the boot floor, and the next stage of the engine work, CATCAMS ( delete V V T ) and verniers with ported head. Ill bring it back out maybe February , so thats me taking a wee break from track days for the forseeable future, and i need to fit stronger springs to the LEDA suspension, as it was a little soft for my liking. Spoke to Pete Daniels of Daniels Motorsport and hes given me the advise for the right spec of springs for the suspension, so ill get them ordered too

Some circuit Ive got to say, the back end is very good with some really quick corners. I recorded some incar footage, but its rubbish as you cant see outside the car due to the camera not focusing due to the sun, which is dissapointing, ill upload it anyways and gives yous an idea of how well it was going

I was just havin one of those weekends

first session wasnt gettin full throttle as the throttle cable slipped on the linkage

2nd session i forgot to turn the nitrous on, and the flair broke off the end of the brake pipe going to the rear biasing valve, so had little or no brakes ( ive upgraded the master cylinder and servo to Mk1 mondeo )

3rd done the headgasket ,

i just knew the gods where conspiring against me as i was having one of those weeks in the build up to Ford Fair

found out the problem, it broke an exhaust valve on No1 after the plug melted on pistons 1-4 , but No1 the end dropped off ito the combustion chamber, and came back up and broke the valve, luckily the broken part of the valve went out the exhaust, and it never damaged the engine at all, valve seat oK , and bore piston ok, very lucky indeed, found that the fuel pressure regulator failed and lack of fuel pressure and the engine leaned off melting the plugs....... nitemare, first thats happened, but with the NOS too it didnt help

so heads off, all repaired, pressure tested, skimmed , 2 new valves , carbs away getting a ful overhaul pick them up on Thursday, and ill get the car built up to do a trcak day on teh 12th September at Kames

Just bought a new Sealey 210 Mig welder, so that takes care of getting the shell repaired, with some mods planned after the Fast Ford day at Caril on the 26th September

Ill upload some pics over the next couple of days, to update the thread

Blew the diff clean out the gearbox at Crail Fast Ford DAy, but ive got a new casing, and ill recondition the box during the winter overhaul

Im gona start the rebuild soon, and have been buying some bits and pieces the last couple of weeks, Ill update the thread when the parts arrive.
