Love the feeling of the 2.0ltr. Ive been used to driving a 1.9D Berlingo for 3 weeks lol
1.1 box isnt as short as I expected, but its fairly rapid! with still a long 5th gear on it, so MPG should be great compared to the revvy RS1800 engine.

Still to do list:-

Get Mark to look at the brakes as they arent working 100%, but good enough for now.
MK3.5 steering cowling.
Wire flashing tit.
Wire bumper lights back in (as I didnt have the plugs on them )
Make bracket for my new CB Ariel.

Clean it and polish it, and try make it look half decent as the paintwork is naff due to bad laquer we used

just in time then mate for Ford Fair, whats your verdict on the 2.0L then. Also whats the weight of your pickup, I imagine its lighter then a standard MK3 seeing as half of its missing

It cuts out when the fan comes on and doesnt like to idle for long, but I can live with that, as its a zetec.. tbh my RS was the same

2.0ltr has noticable more torque and because the max power is lover revs vs the rs engine I quite like it.
1st and 2nd gear is mental with the 1.1 box and pulls like buggery!!!!

5th gear is about as long as the derv box so I'll get great MPG on the motorways

Exhaust will probably fail the MOT. But as it was MOT'd the day before Ford Fair last year (saturday 2nd) and Ford Fair being the 2nd this year, means I can use the car for the show and MOT it afterwards and worry about it later.. although it is getting taxed this week for 6 months.

Unsure of what I would do to the pickup for future, but over winter time or whenever I feel like it, I shall be getting another paintjob on it. This of course can wait till the Escort TD van is built and running around as the daily. As you may not understand I dont want to spend much more on the pickup and could do with some welding on it, so it might just make it to its 3rd Ford Fair. I dont expect it to last long as it is an old shell.

Weight wise, I stuck it on a weighbridge last year when it was a TD.
With me in it, plus a full tank of diesel.
950kg.
So at the time I was 100kg.
TD must weight a good 20kg more than the zetec or something daft, and diesel probably weighs more than petrol?

So at the moment without me inside it I am guessing it to be around 830kg.

Arse end it light, and having 300mm brakes on the front makes it a tad scary. Specially now Ive fitted RS2000 discs on the back with the Escort Servo

what sort of speeds can u do with the 1.1 box then? much different to a 1.4? (remember we discussed it)

Well I found out why the pickup was doing so crap at Ford Fair.

Some of you may have saw the brake issue in the morning

Well the passenger side brake kept sticking, ive removed it and cleaned it, re-bled it up and all seems pretty damn well good now. Even to the point I had to remove one of the white wheels because under heavy breaking from speed I ripped all my tread off the tyre

Another thing, fuel gauge was reading wrong so I BRIMMED the tank to the top, and adjusted the needle to tell me the proper gauge reading!!

Found my spark plug gap tool and adjusted all the plug gaps to 1mm instead of guesswork.
Also the TPS wasnt in its correct position. So have adjusted that now.

So hopefully the excess fuel problem will be better now! a combination of all 3 of the above problems I think will have caused crap fuel. eg 200miles to the tank doing a motorway run at below speed limit

Other than that... nobody seems to be interested in buying it. So I'll just keep it I guess. Maybe do something with the engine thats in it, I dunno.

To be honest I just want my TD Escort Van on the road!! Hence why I want to sell the Pickup and SAVE MONEY!

I didnt even wash it properly for Ford Fair

Mainly because I hate the imperfections in this paintwork

how do ya know if the tps is in the wrong position? sorry may sound daft
jus wondering cos im guna try few things with mine cos mine drinks fuel too, puttin my 105 spec inlet on tomoro 2

they shouldnt be easy to be in the wrong position mine was just sat on an angle and messed things.

Other things which affect MPG BADLY are...

MAF.
Intake Air Temp Sensor, on back of inlet.
The top sensor on the thermostat which tells ecu what temp engine is at (changing that saturday!)
Lambda sensor in exhaust

My 1.4 drinks fuel like mad!! im literally puttin fuel in it everyday. does like 50-60 miles on a 10er!

surely it would do more than this? theres hardly any difference in m.p.g with a standard filter aswel.
