dont mean to be a bummer mate but drabbing the rust there in kurust wont do much mate, except make it look tidyier, this is a structualy place it will need the proper attention sooner or later, there will still be rust under the surface of that kurust after its finish reacting

around christmas time i took on a mk3 resto poject which had this as one of its problems, although where as yours is lost layers of metal, mine had a big hole, probably the same size as your area, this will need plating mate, or go to town and cut it out and then plate it from above and below :(

but it will sort it out :chill:

Yea, i know what you mean. For the time being it should be ok, as it hasen't gone through to the other side, i have always been told that rust is like cancer, iy will never go away unless you can completely remove it.

I have a plan of action now for tomorrow, i am going to remove the bonnet carpet thing or what ever it is supposed to be as it is manky and horrible, i was also going to sand and shine up the EFI writing and laquer it as well as maybe doing the bonnet prop the same way, then all being well weather pending i will shoot the blue.

the above statment are not particulary true, if done right kurust should treat a full area as it stops the iron oxidising any more, that why it goes black, and it treated in a proper way i.e hammerite etc you should never see a proplem with that area again, i did behind my rear bumpers etc and that was 5 month ago not had a problem since.

Right missus is at work so getting some jobs done. Shooting the blue base coat and inbetween coats sanding EFI back to shiney metal then going to laquer over the top. Must also ring Ash

Ok then so picture update that was promised, First, the bonnet carpet removal:

My "Wheel" good purchase:

Also i have shot the blue base coat and it does not look that bad for someone that has never sprayed before i dont think, just need to flat it down and shhot laquer tomorrow:

Image

Now i had a change of plan earlier and instead of just sanding down and laquering EFI, why not use the left over paint and colour code it, this is what the E looked like after sanding, amazing the differance:

Had rather an interesting day really, after doing my night shift from 8 friday night till 8 this morning at half 12 i recieved a phone call from the missus at work saying that she missed me, now normally i wouldn't mind this sweetness but after that i was unable to get back to sleep again :x so decided to carry on colour coding the EFI writing:

Primered up:

Image

After last colour coat, really doesn't do it any justice as it was getting dark at the time:

Image

And as promised pictures of the Si boxed in from the night shift as didn't want it going walkies in the night:

One thing i did not realise and i dont want to sound homosexual by saying it, i didnt realise how pretty and glittery Ford Petrol Blue was, as i was shooting it the glitter was flying everywhere and twinkling in the sun. (Homo rant over)

Not sure what to do next, after seeing that i could spray around the rear strut top i have gone paint crazy wanting to spray everything but i'll stop spraying for the time being, in fact leave the Si alone till payday on thursday as it has a few nice treats coming its way after payday, hey Ash

Probs best if you add me as i'm sure there is only one ben wheat on facebook with an Si as a profile picture as there is more than one of you and dont want to add the wrong one lol
