Just a little update my magnetic sump plug arrived today as the thread has stripped in sump (yet another problem with the car!!!!!) and needed tapping out to the next plug size being 16mm x 1.5mm so as I needed a new on thought I would get a strong magnetic one :)

Image

would recommend motorsport developments to anyone, very fast delivery only ordered it yesterday afternoon

what an exciting update lol

This project is awesome mate! Coming along really nicely now! 8-)

I'm jealous, you've finished uni already! :squint: :lolz:

I've got to wait another three and a half weeks and five exams before I finish and can get started on stripping and rebuilding my fez RS Turbo! :(

It's rubbish being at uni with your car sat at home waiting to be worked on, i'm severely missing my RS atm!

got bored this evening so made up a kit circuit board I have had since Christmas

Image

Image

all that for a frost LED warning light, so at temperatures below 3 degrees it starts to flash and anything under zero is stays on constantly

I have tested by sticking the sensor in some ice cream and it works lol

the LED and temp sensor have been removed as they will need their own sub loom etc........

another huge update lol

Cheers JD :)

My audio stuff arrived today  nothing special and will be running it through the high level inputs off the standard head unit as I have the ford 6006 with built in 6 dics changer plus aftermarket head units dont look great in a ka imo ;)

Image

FLI comp 6's RMS 85 watt, should do for me

and will be driven by

Image

with 2 x 100 watt RMS output

just need to order an in line fuse holder for the amp as it will be going in the boot no point in taking power from the front fuse box as I will have to run a power wire all the way to the back (battery is already in the boot)

Also got to make some MDF adaptors to allow the front speakers to fit and purchase some flashing tape to put in the door skin (not spending silly amounts on the audio as the car wont be driven daily) Going to put the tweeters either in the interior mirror caps or the A pillars, the only reason I am against the A pillar idea is I have a twin gauge pod to put on the drivers side might look a little cluttered :worried:

Just need to think how I want to mount the amp, do I want it on show or hidden under a false floor?!?!?!

this evenings update -

managed to get another circuit kit put together tonight, this ones for automatic lights, ignore the sticky out LED and LDR they will have their own loom and place remotely to the circuit board

Thanks a lot Si and Mike

Todays update

got the two universal voltage switches put together

Image

These will both control the cooling fan, one will be for when the ignition is on and the other will control the cooling fan for 10 minutes after the ignition has been switched off if the engine bay temp sensor senses the engine bay is too hot

again ignore the LED as it needs its own loom and also the blue terminal blocks will be removed and wire hard wired onto the PCB once its been tested etc...

:D

Have also ordered a remote bass controlled for my amp and a wiring kit

My brake seal kit has turned up so should have the brakes on and bleed by next weekend :D

Cheers Dave its getting there slowly, I will be glad to get back to the shell and continue bolting things on etc......

I managed to put together my last kit PCB this one is an Air/fuel ratio gauge with alarm if too lean, only designed as a guide not too accurate but still useful

Image

again ignore the LEDS, LDR and terminal blocks they will all be hard wired with their own loom etc........

and finally all 5 together

Image

just one more PCB is required now and thats to operate the HCV as the Ka ECU used to do this but as this has been removed a circuit needs to be designed and made to control it

Cheers guys

I think the zetec was first put in the ka in wales, but this isn't the ka you are thinking about. The ka you have seen at a show in wales is an 02 plate IIRC and is the same colour with racing arches just with silver cossie wheels :)
