I don't really need to explain myself for the reasons of why.. but to put it bluntly, I'm sick of running shit fords on a day to day basis.

The Uno I have has less rust on it than a 3 year old car ffs

lol, aye rust is a good incentive but... why an uno, theyre really tinny

much like its younger sis the chinychento thing... id feel so unsafe in one, as ENCAP rate you the crumple zone :P

I'm not in the position to buy a newer car, and I'm sick of running shite.... yeah the Escort is doing well, but the next MOT is going to be a ballache I would rather not have, specially on a Ford which has just gone over 162,000 miles.

The Uno is sat doing nothing in my way for a start,
But the Uno is actually a nice car to drive, better seats than the escort for a start.
Its got character, and is pretty damn rare to see one.
I know for a fact the Uno will give me no problems, specially after fitting the injection engine.
With insurance costing ~£250 fully comp for the year, tax is what £120ish for the year, and an engine which gives 40mpg at least; for a car I use for work and driving around, it just makes more sense to me.

I'm building a road/track car, and will be having a swb day van/camper van of some kind to start sometime in the future anyway.

If there is a RR day when I have the Uno done,. then yeah it'll be on the rollers...

1.4 turbo engine is a no no, they cost too much than I am willing to spend and the car would need the uno turbo ARB's etc etc etc

1.2 16v engines come up for £100-£200 with the wiring looms and ecu :)

Been having a think while planning the Uno....
Just remembered I went to the hassle of getting a new clutch fitted to the scrote not so long ago :lol:
So I miiiiiiiiiiiight keep it and MOT it again (thats november anyway, along with tax)

I know it prob needs a new windscreen due to an awkwardly placed chip in it :iagree:
And most likely needs a tiny bit of welding after my various bumps Ive hit with it..

My main reasons for not wanting to keep it and throw more money at it is this...
Its just hit 162,000 miles.

I could get the cambelt done on it, but thats not garanteed to keep it going forever :lol:

I have been thinking about it more today (I'm at work..)

Cambelt & waterpump change should see the engine well, they are known to be good for 200k, and I'm only covering around 12k a year at most at moment.. so really, it could last.

Bodywise, its not toooooo bad, no gaping holes, I'm just worried about the chip in the windscreen, its borderline 10mm and depending on the MOT man it'll mean a new screen, which is bonded in... and I know the a pilars will be abit grotty :lol:

Floorpan, had a look and its not too bad, just needs a tidy (hamerite)

On a plus note, I'm running Mondeo V6 Brakes up front now, all bedded in well and it foooooking stops :lol:
Still running on only 1 drum on the rear, will be fitting the RS2K rear discs at the weekend and I'm sure that'll be an improvment :lol:
