UPDATE!
Update 1.
Got a nice little update for you guys if you havent seen my facebook status... I have got my hands on a 2 litre engine

About time I know haha. Also, at the bottom of the engine update, update 2 about camber adjustable arms - no guide yet, I have only just started on them... its just a reference to me starting them, thats all, will be finishing them soon and guide will be up

Essay time...
I won't bore you much, well ill try not too, but basically I made a new ford friend down here (which is always good) he had an escort estate and he put an engine from a mondeo in there - 2 litre. He was selling the whole car for £350, which I was going to buy just for the engine then break car and make some money back on it, but he came upto me the other week saying he was breaking it and wanted to know if i wanted the engine for £150... of course I said yes!
The engine he recalls had about 60k on it when it was removed from the car, it came from an automatic mondeo too, another benefit in some ways, he said he gave it a good once over to make sure it was sound, then stuck a fiesta/escort sump on it, 1.8 exhaust & inlet manifold, ran it from the standard 1.8 ecu too, also with a 1.8 MAF. Of course running it on the 1.8 inlet and maf isn't ideal, but it worked. And from what I have read, the exhaust manifolds are the same from 1.6, 1.8, rs1800, 2.0, so that makes no odds really.
So yeah, thats that. He also gave me the gearbox - escort 1.8 one from part numbers, rear starter as you may know... might be keeping it and using it with an ST170 manifold... hmm

something to think about!
Other than that, I just need to get a HO inlet, and then a mondeo ECU and MAF.
I will be giving the engine a good once over just for my own peace of mind, and also cleaning it up and painting it... The colours on there currently don't really appeal to me (you will see). I will be changing a few bits, like timing belt + tensioner and idler pulleys, water pump, clutch and probably a couple of other bits.
Been told by the guy I bought it off it had a new oil and filter (cvh one) about 1000 miles ago - oil is still new, checked it myself.
Today I spent about 30mins stripping off some parts, only the PAS, air con pump and gearbox. Also removed the rocker cover to inspect the cams.
So thats that really.
Update 2.
Im currently making some DIY camber adjustable arms, been to motaquip to get some arms, same ones as Ian Howell uses. So far I have taken the ball joints off and thats it. Guide for people wanting to make them will be up soon once I have finished. They are fairly easy to do.
Thats it for the update(s)
Pictures of the engine.

Sneak peak of the arms...

Thats it for now
