Just a small update on Phils little bogey on comps .. its fucked !
There was a small (large

) amount of blue smoke coming from the exhaust on start up and overrun so of course stem seals and valve guides were the first option for the cause BUT due to recent 'rebuild' we sacked that idea off. So the only real thing it could have been, as it was never used but sat for a year+ ,was the snail !! so we took stuff apart and there infront of us was oil and a general cunted mess in the boost pipes and a huge puddle of oil in the cooler

This lead to taking the snail off and sending it to a pro ! BUT the pro said nothing wrong with the turbo

So we then looked at breathing issues such as blocked/wrongly setup breather system or possibly a dodgy oil pipe to the turbo causing the oil to force itself through the seals. This was all well and good but phil is a perfectionist so he wanted to do headgasket etc etc. So the engine came apart and we had a bogey around the cam and the head work that had been done etc etc and then phil sent the block off for a re-hone and the head to be skimmed. Well the news from southern rebore wasnt exactly brilliant

the block was shit ! There was no honing marks from the previous 'rebuild' and the cylinders were tapered

so a .5 overbore and shiz was done to that to sort it out

Next up the head. WOW ! There was no head work done so it was completely standard and the cam was fucked !!! the lobes had grooves in them and were out of shape and all irregular. This was not doing any favours for Phils blood pressure or bank balance

so now its a case of buy buy buy. shopping list afaik ..
.5 oversize pistons + rings
Piper cam + lifters
Big end bearings etc etc (everything for full engine rebuild)
Silicone hoses
Headgasket kit
Turbo rebuild
Cambelt kit
High pressure oil pump (one fitted apparently but could turn out to be like the 'rebuild' )
Cossie fuel pump
+ more
Looking to be a very expensive time but he hasnt lost faith and he knows the car is worth doing

good lad !! He also descovered some small ( 4mm ) holes in the floor and one about the size of a 20p behind the dash on the bulkhead so he has had them cut out and welded up. the rear quater by the filler cap was repaired not long ago but that is cracking and bubbling so thats on his list of things to do. He is not sure on the filler area done by fordfair but the rest is aimed for fordfair but it may not be setup with all the goodies by then depending if he can run it in and get it setup in time
