Latest updates are a bit boring...

Can't get the handbrake levers for the drums anywhere!! So now have the Focus rear disc conversion to do.
Hubs are in the garage and the bolts for the caliper carriers are seized on good! Got one off each hub but my electric torque gun thing ran out of battery trying to get the third one out!
On charge now so will give it another go tomorrow.

Have ordered new splash back panel things along with new bolts and a slider kit and a caliper seal refurb kit.
So once that lot arrives will be ready to install.

Going to strip them down and tidy them up properly before fitting so I only have to do it once!!

Other than that I don't think much newness has arrived for the car.... :(

On the pedal box, I took it in the house and took it apart and it looks like it's going to be real fiddly to get right (not helped by the fact it looks like its got two 0.7 master cylinders on it!!) so if anyone knows of a decent guide for installing pedal boxes please pass it on otherwise who knows what'll happen!

Had Monday off this week so did a bit of rust removal and re-painting. So N/S rear arch along sill and bottom of front wing are now Ash Black :) And O/S rear arch and part of sill are also the right colour. Will try and get rest of O/S done prior to Ford Fair so the car isn't a complete fucking disgrace!

Ordered a set of Gaz Coilovers too so they should be here and on for Ford Fair also

That should be me on the buying shit for the car front for just now. Got lots of stuff I need to get on the car before spending any more money! Only other thing I may buy is a pair of seats and harnesses from a mate, but other than that Paypal/eBay are safe for just now

Paul

From the moment I picked up your book until I laid it down, I was convulsed with laughter. Some day I intend reading it.

Dunno mate. Still trying to get the back brakes sorted so I can get her motd for ford fair!! That's priority one just now.
Then will look at aiding bits and taking away bits :D
Back to having no real deadline for the car. I've purposely only bought parts that are modular and easy to swap into another shell if needs be as I'm not 100% sure if I'm keeping this one but time will tell :)

Well aslong as it is another si I won't be complaining ;)

I like the sound of your rear brake mod because mine are shot. Need new drums, everything that goes in the drum and the brake pipe bracket welding back onto the arch. So I may well be stealing your idea ;)

It will be another Fiesta, preferably an Si :D
Rear discs look the nuts, only got one side bolted up but it looks so much better. My brackets were both attached to rust so I've fibre glasses the area after removing the rust and going to use P-Clips to hold the brake pipe to the new area.

Well apparently the area where the bracket for the brake pipe lives in the rear arch is a structural area as it is attached to the suspension mount?!?

Upshot, the MOT man didn't like my fibre glass repair :(
Never mind, fifteen minutes with a hammer and chisel undid all that work and the car is now back getting the dirty great big holes welded up  along with new brackets being made for the brake pipes.

So, all being well I'll get her back Monday/Tuesday with a years ticket on her :)

I was having a nosey around on eBay last night looking at what I could replace her with if it was going to cost too much to repair her but thankfully I've now saved myself £5k... although it would have been quite nice rocking up at Ford Fair in either a Cossie or Mk1 Focus RS :sigh:

Still unsure on the new shell, need to make a few phone calls next week and see if I can finalise that... will update when there's more info on that.

Also been looking at new front brakes for Ford Fair as the standard ones are crap at best and if I'm driving X hundred miles to Silverstone and back and going on track I don't want to be doing it with shit/fucked brakes.

We shall see what happens as I still have the standard servo in so not sure if bigger front brakes will be all that much of an improvement due to loosing some feeling due to extra pedal throw... decisions decisions!!
And before anyone says it I am NOT going to try and fit the pedal box before Ford Fair. That's just asking for it all to fuck up and me not be able to take the Fez down after all the effort getting her MOT'd :p

I finally got my Gear box delivered last week too, I'll let the pictures give away what I've got

And this was how the output shaft was found :hmm: so that had to be replaced  :banghead: I do now have a shiny paperweight for my troubles though!

Hardcore Track Slag here we come!
A quick look at the ratios on the Quaife calculator give a top speed in 5th at 7000rpm as 113mph   so it won't be going in for Ford Fair :homo:
I think I can just about cope with driving to Knockhill with it but not all the way down to Silverstone and back!

Need to get my finger out as once I get the ITB's on and strip her out and get a custom exhaust combined with this box she is going to sound fucking luverly :chill:

That's all for now, should hopefully have the drivers seat in for Ford Fair but other than that I can't see many changes bar maybe the front brakes so will see you all there in a couple of weeks

Good progress :) very strange that the top speed is so low though. You'll just have to see what it's actually like to drive when the box is bolted on though, could be a different story :)

Cheers Danny!
Yeah I was a bit shocked at how low it is! But as you say will need to wait and see what she drives like. In theory should be great for Knockhill as it's a short twisty track where top speed isn't such a big factor. And it should get there really quick too :)
