Yeah as Dave said Adrian, it could be the crank seal thats gone... NOT a fun job to do! Is it leaking from the gearbox end or the other end orrrrr do you not know? Normally you can notice the crankshaft seal in the gearbox end because the oil will be coming out of the gearbox pretty much.

mate dont stress iv been fitting a 2.0 ltr and rs1800 box to my 1.1 for god know hoe long now, during the engine build i had wrong oil pump wrong clutch wrong cam belt aux belt no cam sensor no rear engine mount no de-cat pipe .. the list just goes on things just crop up one after another, things will come together in the end and it will be worth it so keep with it, or at least thats what i keep telling myself lol !!

also check the oil pressure switch they often leak at the back of the engine its only a plug and bolts off, worth a check mate depends where the leak is coming from, you could always take it to a proper garage get them to deal with it and let them get there hands dirty esp if its the crank seals, dont give in man i know you can get through this

Funny you should mention that phil turns out that wth the car up and engine now running again with it clean i can see oil leaking from it to the same place

So update its back together and running but still leaking hoping to fix asap

if it were the gearbox side crank seal, you'd likely get terrible clutch slip
