well my downpipe has arrived and i took the plunge and bought a ashley 4 inch full system (to be followed by an ashley 4-2-1 manifold next year)

1st up the downpipe









the ashley next to my old 1.1 pea-shooter system









trial fit to the car went fine, i would have permanatly fitted it but i didnt realise the manifold connects to the dowpipe with some springs or something?

anyway, this is how she looks a$re end, thought the 4 inch was too big when i 1st saw it but now i reckon its not too bad.







so i still need the manifold fitting kit (not sure of its real name) and also atleast 1 exhaust rubber mount as my current 1 doenst fit my new exhaust

excuse the mad rushing about and swear word if u hear it

u may also notice the wire ring/bush/gasket that sits between the manifold and downpipe, how the feck are you meant to fit that? everytime i tried it always sat fat at 1 end thin at the other, and trying to get the springs and bolts on after that was nigh-on impossible.

ps sory about the poor sound quality but it sounds the nuts in the flesh

well more money spent, got an ashley 4-2-1 manifold













i thought that this would just connect the the rest of the ashley system i have, WRONG, it leaves a gap of around 8 inch.

took measurement of the end of the manifold and exhaust and ordered a flexi-pipe which arrived today












turns out because of the length of it it goes further back than where i mearsured and so its too big at 1 end!

will this f'king nightmare ever end! one step forward one step back

cut to the correct length, weld it to both the exhaust and flexi-pipe

Ashley Exhausts are the biggest pain in the arse EVER!

Although please use a flexi, otherwise you may have issues like I did MANY MANY times.. the front bit of manifold where the 2 pipes clamp to... always popped off if the rest of the exhaust hit something, due to not having any flex lol

being honest im not having too many isue with the exhaust, although they should state u need a flexi-pipe, the 1 i order was too long, that was my doing as i didnt think it'd matter before realising it went too far back onto the smaller diameter pipe (not where the pipe is flared)

the other problem i have is i cant get the exhaust mounted on the rear mount i can get the rubber on the exhaust, i cant get the rubber on the mount, but i cant get it on both at the same time.

sorry for the pid quality but i only had my phone with me today.

as the engine and gearbox are now done i popped the driveshafts in, also got most of the interior loom routed so put the dash in, as i was sitting there and as the car has'nt durned a wheel under engine power in around 3 years, i thought i would brive it up and down my dads drive (i have to make sure the gearbox is ok after all

back and forward a few times, then decided to launch it, hence the bottom pic

was pretty rapid off the line, even with 2 semi-flat front tyres, cant wait to get it on the road, there's nothing really stopping me, well, apart from the tax and mot
