changed the coilpack and cps sensor

not sure if the ecu is duff, dont know how i can test it.

wiring, god-knows, im positive ive wired up all the plugs correctly and have wired the engine loom to the interior ok.

how easy/difficult is it to use a mondeo engine loom?

i dont think its too hard to do, same as using another.. as long as you have the correct wires connected in the right places.

but to be fair mate, to minimise the chance of any wiring issues a full si loom would be easier.. and would get rid of any problems if there are any in the loom at the moment.

ecu wise, if any wires were on wrong it can fry the ecu.. or you may just have a naff ecu from the start... only way to test is getting someone to test your ecu in their 2.0ltr or by you trying a different ecu (but also risk frying that if it is down to wiring issues...)

nackered ecu on a working wiring loom wouldnt nacker owt really.. its the other way around which can nacker the ecus up ;)

I got an si loom for £30... twice! :red:

well, another day another engine loom, this 1 came with a cps and lambda sensor, also managed to get my ecu tested and she's a good'un.

fitted the new cps, new loom, connected the battery, still no spark :(

as i was unsure if the pats was active i bypassed it and i got a spark!

i also got a massive fooking flame shoot out of the plug hole i had removed to checked for a spark, went in and changed my soiled underwear.

replaced plugs, turned her over and she fired right up, i mean instantly, now bearing in mind the engine has been sat for over a couple of year im well chuffed :D

now on the downside :(

problem is it runs WOT, so far ive only let it run for a couple of seconds on 3 or 4 occasions because of this, whats the most likely cause? ive checked the TB and the butterfly is near shut, when i was rebuilding the engine i put the TPS on straight, does it need to be put on off square then squared up to the holes (if that makes sense)?

also i dont have a downpipe so no where to put the lambda sensor, wouldnt have thought this would make it run what though?

only experiences ive had of it revving its plums off with the butterfly shut is airleaks...injector o rings or inlet gaskets.. are the usual faves...or vaccuum pipes disconnected and not blocked up...will be something silly i should imagine..to make sure..get a can of something like carb cleaner..or brake cleaner..start it up..and spray the gasket seams..if it calms down then you have an air leak :)

well, im not sure now that it is revving high, im sure (pretty sure) that its just fooking loud and i mistook that for hight reving in the 2 seconds i had her running :(

anyway, i paid for a downpipe and was told it would be with me by this weekend, guess what? its not here, no reply from the seller either despite pms and emails, i paid a higher price than i could have to make sure i got it but now i feel like a mug, reason i needed it here by now was im gona be working 6 days a week from now till xmas and the 1 day i get off i have commitments that i cant get out off.

so it looks like she's going to see the turn of another year on my dad's drive :cry:
