i worked out that the saph cossie, s2 and the 2.0 si owned by terry,baz,and jamie are a hell of a lot faster

My car seemed to generate some interest though, at the services, and from the group it went down well its just dirty now from the 140 mile round trip

Highlights of day:

Seeing Terry,Jamie et all
Showing them my bonnet so i actually have witnesses
Seeing so many fords in one place
Doing 145 miles on a 1/3 of a tank
Bumpstarting an orion whose driver had leather driving gloves

Lowlights of day:

The police moving us on
The weather
The fact kirsty now wants to go back to bluewater on a shopping trip
The fact i was disapointed was a low point, i spent £30 filling up for this!

further inspection has revealed:

i need

1 inner CV boot changed
1 outer CV boot changed (opposite sides!)
Rear Wiper Switch
A smidge more bodywork as found some rust
And the rear shocks and springs are original, and have seen better days......so going to replace them with new standard stuff

Old cars eh?

i am watching this, i shouldn't really buy it, but it would be a christmas present from myself

Hopefully, now my best mate has his tools again, i can tackle the inner cv boot in the near future and i've been taught a bodge to fix the tiny hole in the outer cv boot on the drivers side, by cutting up an inner tuber and cleaning up the boot, then gluing the inner tube over it, like a puncture repair kit

i'm getting the finance as my mum and dad are also paying my loan off which at the moment is £160 a month, and i can get finance on a ST for £173 a month so in reality it is costing me £13 a month more for the car. Also i have the xr3i at a point where it doesn't need alot of money spending on it, and i dont want it to get to a point where i am. I hope it goes to a good home and is not abused...

Also with my mortgage and other things, although the xr3i has been ultra reliable, i wanted a car where i could do 80 with out worrying and take it out in the rain without wincing etc.

its developed a new squeak, but for £750 i think thebloke is getting a bargain and i'm throwing in a new wiper switch, stainless steel dials, ashley centre section, original seats, plus leaving it how it is. And i just put £20 of petrol in it

will miss the old girl though. Been the most reliable car i've had, and it gets attention of people as its rare to see one in this condition.

Still an ST thread will start at some point
