Just a small update

I thought my lower engine mount was worn out. When infact, the upper bolt of the 3 had actually come loose (it's a big bolt.. not something that comes loose over a period of a few days!) and was stuck between my block and speedo pinion, so luckily I can whip it back in before I go on my road trip. That explains why my gearbox sometimes feels like it's slipping further back when changing gear on corners/angles!

Also the tracking is majorly out so that's being sorted today! And my steering rack is a knocking when on full lock, so that's going to be to replaced...

I've not fitted the catch tank yet, as I may route my battery to the boot so I have the extra room, I think I'll need it for when it's a tad more busy in the engine bay.

Ahh the joys of motoring :D

Tracking sorted. No more loss of grip in 1st gear! I was surprised. The guy said it was well out.

Then after it had warmed up, I put my foot down and I was actually shocked with how much more power the wheels were getting down     Pulls more violently in vtec, and no more wheel spinning when going into 3rd!!

I suspect my tracking has been off since having the car.

Well happy! Also got my breakdown cover sorted today.

Now I just need to sort out these missing gearbox mount bolts before I take it on a 420+ mile one way journey come Friday :wth:

I'm also getting under the car tomorrow to paste up my backbox/mid section join, blowing like mad again as I have a chopped up civic mid section, but don't have the time to replace for a correct integra mid section at the minute..

Cars. Cars cars cars.

Thanks Terry!

Gearbox mount sorted - had to get under the car and take the mount totally off, and replace it - also had the exhaust re-aligned, re-fitted and glued together again.

I'd like to say I did it myself....! Instead I paid a mechanic I know 20 quid to spend 45 minutes freezing his ass off on the floor whilst I warmed my hands by an open fire and apologised for always giving him the shit jobs to do  :D

Sorry to bore you with it all!

Yeah car's all ready for the trip now! I've got 4/5mm left on the front brake pads, so I'm taking it easy on them until I get back and get them changed, and I still need a new mid section and steering rack, but neither of those are dangerous.

I've changed a few gearbox mounts myself on the French wagons, and usually you're looking at paying no more than 30/40 quid for the mount, regardless of it's it's OEM/GrpN/GrpA/Solid etc, and it's never more than an hour to fit, so hopefully it should be the same on your Ford's with any luck.

Adam, although mounts are not servicable items, your car is fairly new and they shouldn't wear for a long time - are you sure it's the gearbox mount? Maybe it just isn't strong enough, if it's hollow in points, try filling it in first, it sounds like a bit of a bodge, and to a degree it is, but it should help a lot regardless, if it is the mount in question.. Does the engine move quite a bit in the bay if you try and move it yourself?

Just a small update!

Ordered me some new Hondas OEM brake pads for the front - awaiting delivery (hardly exciting!) Also getting a standard 2nd hand B pipe in the next day or two, to replace the civic one that's been bodged onto mine since I've had it - bit fed up with it blowing all the time! and finally got me some 10/40 oil to replace from oilman.

MOT is due before the end of this month, so I'm getting on with the jobs I know will ned doing, but god knows what it may fail on! I'm expecting a bill coming close to 4 digits, as I know some of the suspension is knackered, and my tyres are getting low. I'll be happy to keep it under the £500 mark though in total
