Here's some pics of the progress.

This was before the new tires, wheels look a lot better with 45 profile tires now. Just need to sort out the water ingress problem, any ideas at all? Drain holes in the floorpan are clear, door seals dont weep, sunroof looks good just seems to be right in the centre of the footwell front and rear every time it rains :/

Does it have a sunroof?? Could be leaking and dripping down which wouldnt give you any path to follow.

Or around the gearstick as thats a big hole in the middle of the floorpan.

Paul

That's very possible... Also it's a long shot but check the water level in your header tank as my carpet was soaked once and turned out to be my heater matrix under the dash had leaked, hope you sort it mate !!

Managed to source a MK5 polybushed rear axle complete with drums for only £40 literally 10mins from where I live. Does anyone know if this is a straight swap? I've had a quick google and the general Idea is yes it is, but It's a bit vague when coming to the brakes. I don't intend on putting discs on, too much hassle for the way the brake bias is set, Ideally I'd like to just take drums of the standard axle and bolt them to the Mk5 axle but apparently the bolt patterns are different? Can I use the MK5 drums with MK3 brake hoses does anyone know?

Cars is looking well better on the new wheels mate! Not 100% but it could probably be sorted with a small amount of modding being as the mk3-5 ain't really that far off different underneath :)

Think they are straight swap sean, got new brake hoses to go with it, the set up on the MK3 looks a bit different to the MK5 but I'll figure it out. Going to be fitting the beam next Friday. Also, think I've sourced the water ingress issue, seems to be coming in through the blower motor seal and tracking in. Don't know if this is also the source for the water build up in rear footwell but once it's sealed up I'll soon see. Also, thought I'd treat myself to an early Christmas present so I got these today, absolutely love them, had two sets in the past and they are mint seats! Best set I've owned, only small rip scuff on the front and a little rip on the back!

Yeah they are fantastic seats, can't wait to get them in at weekend. Took the car out today in the rain and footwell is wet through again, I can't see the heater blower seal being the cause for all the water, just seems to be way too much water especially in the back for it to be just that seal. Anybody else had any issues with water ingress?

I had rear footwell issues when the seals on the bumper bolts for the rear Si bumper were missing?

I'll have a look into them cheers, I did take the rear bumper off a while
Back to check the rear panel but can't say if it was wet before then because tbh this year has been pretty dry

Tried getting the recaros in today, Still using the 3.5 runners off the wingbacks but the seats don't bolt in, its like the metal base of the seat isn't wide enough? Any ideas, did yours go right in Sean?

I actually prefer the wing backs to the recaros but of course that is just my opinion.

Looks like its coming along nicely!

Looking good! Bloody good run up there isn't it, that's where I bought my si from :p the Lake District is even better for a drive out in the summer, my seats came on mk3 runners as they was in a rs1800 anyway so they bolted straight in... As for your leak I think your absolute best shot of finding it once and for all is strip the interior out and sit inside while someone gets the hose on the car and keep a look out for where it's getting in surely it will jump straight out at ya :)

Yeah interior is totally stripped, sealed up heater blower motor cause seal was perished, got some new recaros now, swapping my escort ones for frst ones tonight so the fiesta ones should go straight in. Problem with the escort seats is that the base itself is too narrow for the runner but the fiesta ones should be the right size cause they come from a mk3

Got one of my FRST recaros fitted today. Really smart seats, just need to get some bases for them. Also one thing that I need to sort, my aftermarket boot popper stopped working a while back. When I got in the back to open it with the metal release, the release fell off all together so I can't open the boot at all now. It's something I'd forgotten about but now I'm getting round to sorting my ignition barrel etc, I want the car all sorted. Any ideas how to open the boot without the metal release?
