intresting thread mate, like the idea of the mk5 with zetec engine

does the mk5 not have a front crossmember , or is it further back, as the ST170 manifold wont fit a MK3/3.5 fiesta without modding either the manifold or the cross member

whats your idea about the false floor, are you gona cut out the floor where the back seat fits normally? personally for all the weight youd save, id keep the floor intact, much stronger if your doing trackdays

anyways ill keep an eye on how the project progresses

Update...

well today been up to mums garage and removed the sump ready for me to modify. So that i can use a front mount starter which saves me having to source yet another gearbox and will allow me to keep the hddi box i have.

after many hours of head scratching managed to get the sump off. With it been a two piece sump and much better design over the slivertop one piece sump. Reason it took me so long to remove as i was trying to take it all off in one go, but you have to split the two halves first as the oil pick up pipes stops you from removing it as one piece.

here is pics of the section i have got to remove to allow the starter to fit and bolt to the box

Image
Image

will be fun to remove tomorrow with the good old angel grander..

Also after a accident with the engine crane i ended up with a big lump on the head and...

Image

One smashed headlight could of been worse but i took the bigger impact from the crane

enjoy!
