6 speed box has better ratios it's just:

the 6 speed duratec mondeo was a special edition i think so need to weigh up the cost issue, or put up with it
and as much as i love the gears for thrashing it, it's ridiculous on the motorway

Plans for this weekend (before Sexyfields Xmas Meet I may add! )

Rip the dash out, and change the Heater Matrix, as the current one is WANK (fun job!)
6 Speed Wiper (case of swapping the wiper/indicator stalks and adding a relay)
Intermittant Rear Wipe (add a relay)
Remove Passenger Seat before sixfields
Remove drivers seat at Sixfields and fit 2 nice Fiesta Si Seats in place

Should be fooking amusing to say the least

Was so cold this morning the Antifreeze Froze and I had to stop half way to work to stop the engine boiling over while the ice melted inside the pipe

So will be replacing the antifreeze with stuff rated to -34 degrees C also

Right well, just filled the car with "lifetime" red antifreeze, which can with stand up to -36 !!

Ended up blowing it through the system to bleed it up, and pushed out most of the old shite

Heater Matrix can wait till weekend!

Then I'll have to bleed the system up again!

sounds fun

So while doing that I found this little fella inside a small pipe which runs from the side of the stat to the top of the header tank....




I could not understand why this was inside the pipe, so asumed it was some kind of one way valve, but it isnt!
And on all the other ford dervs I have had, I have never had this little thing inside the pipe.

It seems silly as it would restrict water flow... but thinking about it, it would hold the hot water back and trick the stat into opening quicker to send the water to the rad!

Now I would imagine this morning that was frozen as its only a small hole, or blocked with some shite from the rad/heater matrix core, as this little pipe was freezing cold this morning, when it normally gets hot before the rad!

So hopefully this will sort out any further issues, along with my awesome -36 degree antifreeze

Oh the Joys!

On another note, I sorted out my frozen screen on the inside by giving it a good bloody clean, and leave my window open slightly before i end my journey to let out any warmer air to stop condensation building up!

Replaced Heater Matrix, what a c*nt of a job that is!!!!

Everything is all good, although its not as hot as it could be, as Ive dislodged the flap which regulates the cold air in the airbox, so Its kindof on the piss meaning its slightly open letting in cold air on the hot setting, this isnt a problem as it gets hot enough in the car

The other downside to this is, I cant turn it down, but for the next few months I'll leave it, then rip out all the dash again in Spring
