I found that was the problem with my fiesta, I had a lot of horses but when I put my foot down they tried escaping... literally.

In all honesty I have every respect for the work you are doing to your fiesta's and I should stop comparisons to a newish car like mine. Keep it up.

Well Mr Meilack, you actually notice I only have problems with newer fords (or over priced old ones). As I have said a few times if my fiesta was more reliable I would still be driving it now.

i find my xr2i (when i have it) is great fun to drive

You have to consider my fiesta was running towards 145bhp so it just torn itself apart. Yes I blew engines but everything else worn out aswell.

I have to say the best car I have ever owned is the Saxo in many respects, I got it for £1400 (nearly 4 years ago) and it got me around for 2 years and only ever snapped a drive shaft, but I really did abuse that car and it never complained. I do prefer the C2 but that did cost me a lot more so should be better.

As you say mate, there's no real comparison between older and newer cars, and as you were running the si at about 145bhp that would speed up the wear and tear on the already old components. I suppose arguably your saxo was newer so the components werent as worn yet, maybe increasing reliability or maybe you were just unlucky with the fez you had.
