Well Im going to take the stereo and speakers out and the battery as thats brand new in. The main bit I wanted off it was the cat + back of the exhaust and the back lights. I might speak to the salvage people when they phone up see if its ok with them to remove the exhaust and lights.

decided they aint taking the car. They have wrote it off and valued it a 300. Oh yeah my excess comes to 350 so I get exactly £0 off them. Um yeah fine I'll keep the car then and SORN it, take off what I need and then scrap it. Why should I let them take it when I'm basically paying for it myself?

Either that or let them sort it claim the 300 back on my excess protection (upto 500) and then ask what its worth scrap value and buy it back off them (cos normal scrap value will be about 100) nice long phone call I got to look forward to tomorrow.

Don't fork out for an excess until it's been decided it's your fault (which it shouldn't)

Unless it stated in your cover they ain't legally allowed to take the weckage off you unless is required for an investigation (police would probably have seized it for their own enquiry) or unless its a CAT A.

It is your property, and and yours to do with as you please, unless any of the above occur.

see thats the problem as I know the other driver is going to be found as liable, I'm thinking they are gonna need to take the car just so I can get the amount covered by her insurance as I need the 300 to pay off the loan I got for the Si (still taking the stereo and speakers out of it either way)

If the soliciters get involved, don't pay any excess.

The insurance company are obliged to for out for repairs or a "non predjudice" payout for the other car depending on whether its damaged or a total loss to enable you to purchase a new car assuming limited finances.
You should receive the same.

I'm with fortis (insured with them through Kwik-fit)
Yeah I currently have a solicitor to deal with the whiplash claim. TBH all this stuff is making me feel ill and with my neck its just getting on my nerves. No word of a lie I got 7 letters this morning from kwik-fit/fortis/solicitors and 4 yesterday on top of 2-3 calls daily.
Its getting to be to much to cope with, starting a new job sorting out the 1.4 and sorting out the claim and insurance on the 1.1, not only that I'm having to sort out my NI tax as I have gaps in my contributions and the DVLA haven't received my V26 + new keepers supplement for the old 1.1 yet again! thats the 3rd frikken one I've sent them since getting the car in October last year.
Not only that my insurance has gone fron 84 to 114 a month....Bring on the holiday in August. Sorry don't mean to bitch

Been there done that.
I just hope it gets cleared up quickly for you. Mine's been going on for over 2.5 years with no outcome. I was boarder line suicidal for at least a year after it happened!!

That did over £10k worth of damage to my car alone.

The only advice I can give it to stop it preying on your mind. It's temporaroly out of your hands, so don't let it get to you. Take your time and gradually sort your finances out accordingly. Write the experience and expense off so that anything you get out of it is a bonus

I think thats what Ill end up doing sending back all the forms, witness statements, mine and passengers statements, photos and anything else I can get my hands on and let them deal with it.

At the end of the day I've gotta look at it as I have 4 witnesses backing up my side of the story, and saying she was speeding , she may not be admitting liability but theres not really anyway she can deny 6 statements and photos that prove it one way. Its just hard to look at it like that. I think its the money thats getting me at the moment. Once I start getting my paychecks in it'll be easier for me to forget about this accident so much.

I keep telling myself me and my partner were lucky to get out of the car in one piece from the amount the car moved across the road (theres skid marks going across the road from my tyres, my dad showed me the photo) but it just sucks. The last 2 weeks have been a case of good new, bad news. 2 pets die, my niece is born healthy, I get a new job, my car gets wrote off.

Ouch is that the same car in all 3 pics? how did that happen, thats some serious damage to the front of that car.
How can they justify your case going on for 2.5 years? surely they have made some headway.

yeah I got the police involved in mine also. I've heard about lagunas folding. The older Kas have a similar effect to them (my uncle works as a recovery guy and got a call out to an accident on the M25 involving one)
Well lets hope this year you finally hear something back about it. I'm hoping mine don't take that long to resolve as I got a feeling my insurance is gonna be bad to renew this year
Well I got my health kind of, my neck kills I keep getting bad pains in my stomach (from the seatbelt I'm guessing) and I got some nice bruises up the sides of my arms that only reared their head after a hot bath.

At the end of the day I'm trying to make myself think, I'm alive as is the partner, we are both working, I've lost the car but I've still got another one. I'm not any better or worse off (bar the health bits)
