Cheers all. White wheels do look good without a doubt, but I'm not really fussed about cosmetic mods these days. It's a solid car that's easy and cheap to maintain and I'd like to keep it that way without spending money on something that will attract more attention, though the Magnex does that for me. :hsugh:

I test drove a few, and some were shocking. especially one which was supposedly "perfect" :hmm:

. I'd happily say this is the nicest GTi-6/Rallye I've ever driven.

Oh Emyln, it may have been the Lamba/MAP sensor that was buggered, as they tend to die randomly with these. The engines are quite solid as long as they have a cambelt every 30/40k and a headgasket in due course. One of the specialists on the forum has a 235k+ that's solid. To be honest they only ever die from a cambelt snap or the car being broken for bits. Very hard wearing form what I've seen.

Yeah it felt like that sort of thing, felt like a fiesta with a dodgy MAF which is an all too
familiar memory. We ended up buying a 1.6 it's either a phase 2 or phase 3 I'm unsure on
the differences. Its in very good nick and I will be doing the cambelt on it when it needs
doing as it's a walk in the park on the old 8v engines.

That reminds me, I need to book my cupra in for a cambelt soon (which isn't a walk in the park)
LOL.

Havn't sent a car to a garage my whole life until now except for MOT's - I must be getting old :lol:

Oh don't get me wrong they are complete dog poop in the wet, but really special
in the dry which is why I'm getting them, had them on the front of that escort I
had a while back and loved them.

To be honest no tyre is going to give me traction on the front in the wet, so I don't
even bother unless it's dry. LOL
