Iirc you need a neoprene 'O' ring from ford, you may get one with a new thermostat from a motor factor tho

Good, would be ashame to rip it all out and it have holes in it, not many that don't have it at this age.

That's for a blacktop zetec but should be the same, I think it would be much cheaper from your ford dealer though

im starting to wonder why im going to town on this car. its so fucking time consuming doing stuff because everythings so rusted on. then im coming across rather rusty patches. jsut want the engine running now. definate down day today.

started off me trying to under the rubber brake hose from the bracket attached to the rear arch... i felt it pulling away so i couldnt exactly avoid it...


then i thought id check where will on here had the rust and low and behold, its rotten!


because of the way the car is positioned, i cant get to the other side properly until i have all the running gear back on and its on all 4's so i need to find a mobile welder to come and do that side, finish off putting everything on, move it out and get the other side done. just hope its not the arch on that one either.

given up for today as i cba with the disappointment again. really does my head in about the amount of time and money ive put into this and i get that thrown back at me. then again, what did i expect?

oh and also, trying to get the drum off the backing plate i cracked the edge off so if anybody has a replacement let us know.

sorry to hear that ben but as danny said you know it'll get sorted! i had alot of trouble with my fiesta when i first got it (14 holes! ) but it'll be ok!

Should have been the first thing you checked imo but at least you know its there now and can get it sorted whilst its off the road.

garaged for a few years, but still had over 10 years of the road. Stick at it, just makes its more of a learning curve. buy a welder and teach yourself!

thanks Danny and Sam. im sure there will be plenty more to come! main thing is getting everything painted up, new bits i need and sorting what i can. then when its running, get the other bits welded up before its mot.

Yeah i know Chris, i think deep down i was scared of finding a load of rot i couldnt fix myself. when i can afford one i will definetely be getting one and learning, think it will come in very handy indeed!

not going to let it slow me down. will go next saturday to buy my bits, get the front end sorted then go from there. main thing is getting the engine running obviously so its jsut a waiting game now. work all week so the only bits i will get to do is in the engine bay in the dark with some shitty light so ill try sort out the brake lines to the servo etc.
