Evening all thought id update my thread back in april i sold the Si after 3 years of ownership it will be greatly as i very muched enjoyed the time i spent driving and working on it but i sold it to raise funds for my biggest project to date.

As i have been using a impreza for run around i fancyed doing something than fiestas so i bought this Impreza 1.6 2wd 90bhp off a mate of mine which had been done up as a turbo replica




Then after a while bought this Impreza turbo UK model off ebay quite cheap (one on left)




this impreza was quite rotten in places as you can see from pic below so it was decided to swap everything over from the turbo impreza into the 1.6 shell as this was in a better condition


So myself and my mate gary set to work and after a few hours remove whole engine, gearbox and subframe from the turbo impreza

Then set about stripping out both cars of everything right down to a bare shell


both engines from each car removed and put to one side


more stripping and gary let me use his ramp which is real handy to have made life alot easier

removed rear subframe and petrol tank off turbo impreza and looking more stripped out now


Fitted subframe to 1.6 impreza to make it 4wd both chassis were the same and everthing off the turbo model bolts straight on

Putting the enitre loom from turbo impreza into the 1.6 shell this was alot of fun lol as we didnt label any of the wires


Interior going back in with a few upgrades from the turbo shell



Refitted bodywork and removed stickers




Started up engine ran perfectly finished off any odd bits here and there took it for a test drive really drove well and 2 weeks ago it went for a mot and passed first time so very pleased have now got it on the road, the old turbo shell was scrapped and the majority of the work was done in about a week this was done back in May

Now back to fiestas I thought id better got on which getting the xr2i turbo running again and found a complete engine and lsd gearbox for sale not far away so collect it and setted about fitting it the car




Now this is when it goes wrong get it fitted started car up ran perfectly for around 5 mins then started smoking burn water so thought head gasket had gone so stripped thinking it would be an easy fix. Nope intsead found that the block had a long crack in it

so now back to square one will hope be getting another engine for it soon will hopefully have one later this month in the mean im going to have loads of fun driving my new toy

Cheers mate not been having much luck with the fiesta hopefully will be third time lucky when i collect new engine in a couple of weeks 2.1 zvh would have collected it sooner but low on funds at the minute lol

reminds me of when my mates dad bought a crashed impreza and a another rolling shell and we swapped all the doors over and the rear axle, diff and a few other bits, those rear axles a frigging heavy arent they? lol

shame about the fiesta mate, i still got the old lump out of that car here haha!

2.1 zvh sounds nice though.

They are heavy mate was lucky enough to be able to use a ramp when fitting to save a load of hassle as you have to line them up perfectly so that they fit right

you can't beat jap cars for good old reliability

Well after a long road trip yesterday i collected the 2.1 zvh engine from rs220bhp and spent today giving it a once over and fitted it in car this afternoon wont be having it running just yet as waiting for some parts for it

i know mate just got to find a t3 turbo for it now and then it should be ready to use although might put my t2 on for the time being

To get the most from that engine I'd run it with front mount, t3 beiges and an updated pump mate. And a custom chip or a 195 at the least. Will be a belter with them bits.
