Always the du bearing that fails on these and wipes out the shaft and whatever else it takes out when the bearing goes, with mine it took out the casing quaife shaft straight cut pinion and crown gear

Yep can be expensive my gearbox owes me nearly 2k but does make the car what it is

well today i finally got the engine out! was a very nerve racking experience. because of the confined space i had, me and my dad simply dragged the engine from underneath when the car was up in the air to save pissing around
the journey from the shed to the carport!

the situation

once i had it out it was ready to go and get my new rebuilt box

andy at gears.tv has done a great job by the looks of it! will be getting a new lick of paint

so yeah. now its just a clean up, get the new loom in a work my way up.

managed to get the pistons out of the calipers so they will be getting a refurb soon

yeah i was pretty impressed tbh.

i know, that will be the tricky part haha! need to figure out some more stuff, like fuel pump. starter motor. basically to check what can be taken off the old engine and put on the new one if anything. waiting on my rad and downpipe and a pulley i need to replace. ermmm and the mounts. theyre the only issues i have atm woop.

Lower arm pinch bolt fucked? They always get fucked so dont worry about that, they are no more than £5 for 2 of them and new nuts from ford.

It's going well so far you can use the starter motor, fuel pump should be up for the job, but not 100% sure. Ask on FT to see what someone on there says. It might be the same as a 1.6 one so if it is, its ok.

Those mounts on the gearbox, did you buy them or did they come with the box? I recognise them from ebay. I bought two just like it for the old fiesta. Might get some for this one and not bother trying to get zetec ones lol

not sure Danny but yeah, they came with! yeah i know the pinch bolts arent too bad. going for area six lower arms so will obviously get fresh ones.

ill double check with the fuel pump. going to transfer most stuff onto the engine tomorrow like and do a few other bits. major thanks to Danny btw because he has been a huge help. sure he gets sick of my nagging but i think the naked pictures i send him make it a bit more bareable

It should handle more than that mate, it had just under 200 going through it when it was last used so now it's been rebuilt it should be even better!!

was this before or after some twat fucked the gearbox? im pretty sure the reason for that was because the idiot who did it, put a newer type of bearing in. dont understand how it lasted tbh.
