Removed old engine this morning stripped block down to get bits for new engine coming on monday

Thought id update my thread, since about may i've not done any work on my fezs been busy but recently got myself my own workshop unit and over the next week will be getting my Si up and running
Heres my workshop not got many tools in at moment with my impreza parked out front

Got round to making a start on the Si has been like this since around may

New parts going for something abit different and will be fitting a 1.8 head




Modified OBX downpipe this is currently being a pain to fit properly

more updates to follow over the next week

Hiya mate is it hard to time up the Kent cams or is it the same as when you do a head gasket and out the cams in and use the locking tool to lock them in place.

Cool cheers mate. Have you got her back on the road yet. A rebuilt engine does make the difference and it does feel so much better as well and it would be better that you got the cams aswell.

Time for update have given up the idea of the OBX manifold for the time been because of fittment issuses kept shorting on starter motor so i had the egr holes on my original manifold welded up and fitted that back on.
Tonight i got it running still needs things connecting and fitting so runs a bit crap should have more pics and updates this week

Did you think about wrapping the downpipe to stop it shorting out on the starter?

The manifold in the above picture looks so agressive! Ive always wanted one like that

I might try that next time, im gonna cut the pipe and angle it away from it, just wanted to get it running so stuck old one back on for time being

are you usin the shorter zetec starter motor mate?
thats what folk usually use when puttin aftermarket manifolds on

cvh one which is quite small so i would need to get 1.1 starter motor

More progress got everything back together got a few idle problems might be a vacuum leak or faulty sensor

Got it running properly today put new seals in inlet manifold and sorted out the cat which was blocked, it was smoking the place out and glowing orange so smashed out the inside unfortunately has made the exhaust sound abit tinny.

All being well should be booking it in for its mot
