Cheers for the comments both, unbelieveable what something like that does to you.
Lou, you should get the 2.0 sorted...I held off for 3 or so years and now wish I had of done it sooner....
Seanny, Can't really measure how quick it is due to the clutch at the minute... when it's cold (before clutch becomes a nightmare) it does seem to pull well enough (for me anyway!!)

cheers again

I was wondering how long they would take them to get the 2.0! Hopefully you'll enjoy the extra torque once the clutch is sorted.

Sorry to hear about you hitting someone though dude, but the good news is she survived, and hopefully it wasn't your fault! (I can't see you being the sort of reckless driver that I'd imagine other members on here would be - no names mentioned!)

On a lighter note, I think you'll have fixed everything possible on the car soon

cheers for the comments guys.

Ry, yeah it wasn't my fault....it really did when the police turned up (included their sargeant) and the ambulance while I was being questioned by the side of the busy main road in rush hour traffic

The sargeant actually said for a 15 year old car going 30mph my skid marks were very good (i.e. short)....so I took some consolation from that.
I've been completely cleared obviously....

Yes it seems as though at some stage or another I will have gone through every component of this car- funny as I had been considering selling it a week or so ago. Now i've cleaned it i've changed my mind... :halo:

small minor 2 second update.....
I've had the clutch done by a tuner in Hinckley called R-Tech (specialise in ECU remaps, mostly for German cars). Can't praise them enough, customer service was 10 out of 10, dropped it in on Friday morning, had it back by Friday night...never witnessed tuners/garages to be so efficient with the service they provide... maybe thats something to do with round here though, don't know.

I was slightly concerned that the clutch pedal was a little lower than before....but it's automatic adjustment i've found out so shouldn't be an issue and may come back up as the clutch wears..

going to sort the squeal from the drivebelt area next, should only be a cheap easy task, it's just one I can't be arsed with at the minute!! Once I have that done I may make a return to R-Tech for a run on the Rolling Road

Does my theory regarding the clutch pedal sound about right?

Cheers all

your next mods needs to be an RS1800 inlet ;)

Been a while since i have posted on here but thought todays error is worth telling you guys about (so you don't do the same!).

In Feb last year I replaced the lower radiator hose (leads to waterpump - which is also new), and the water rail along the heatshield. This seemed to stop all water leaks until around a month ago when it emptied itself again....
I figured it was the radiator due to wet patches on it and decided to buy a new one from euro car parts (i'm sure other distributors are the same). Any, spot the difference, old vs new:

...the old one has the radiator fan switch, the new one doesn't. I ordered this part based on my Reg plate and figured it MUST be correct...I even rung my local Ford dealer and they confirmed I needed one without the plug (aka the new incorrect one).
I got round this problem by manually finding the correct one on euro car parts website (searching for 1.8 '95 Fiesta mk3).

So in a nutshell i've wasted alot of time taking one radiator out and putting it back in.

funnily enough it hasn't used any water this week either :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Also, on that note, my temp gauge doesn't appear to be working...it used to move slightly (higher in the white) but doesn't move at all now...presume this is the sender in the thermostat??????

Cheers
Andy

Unplug the plug on the thermostat and bridge the the prongs. Or earth one of. Them out. That should make the gauge go into red I think. Which means it isn't wiring related

what a pain in the ass andy :banghead:

the temp gauage issue might be a sensor issue, or the gauage itself?

Paul, will have to try that...

Yes it is actually listed for a 1.8 16v '95 Fiesta, so I'll be using that from now on!

Thanks for the help btw Terry! Random, but I figured you would know the ansewer....

It's round 2 at the weekend anyway, should go better. Not convinced my radiator is knackered though...it's abit patchy but nothing mega... will have to wait an see.
New Radiator will look nice anyway!

Good luck with it this time round mate

Have you checked the heater matrix and hoses to make sure its not leaking from there?

Thats probably the only place I haven't checked, would it affect my heaters though? i.e. Temp?
Because they work fine, heat etc.....

Thanks

The heater would still work fine, but if the matrix was leaking you would see coolant seeping/running out of the box where the matrix is held behind the centre console. Might only be doing it when the heater is on and you are driving along when the system is under pressure, if so have a good look round when the engine is running and you have your heater on full

Also check the two hoses that go to it on the bulkhead for splits or obvious leaking

Hope that helps :)

Cheers for that I will have a good poke around at the weekend, sounds viable tbh. Water loss has been intermittant, worse over winter....(heaters on)

Sounds highly likely then mate, as it would only leak when switched on as it is bypassed when switched off

Let me know how you get on :)
